While at the dentist office this morning I found this page in a outdoor mag. had to have it so I ripped it out and stuck it in my pocket,I knew you guys would like it as well!

Sometimes a fish gets in your blood. There's something about its personality, the challenge of catching it,that not only speaks to your soul but swims through it.It leaves in its wake a clinical obsession to keep that connection alive,no matter the risk or sacrifice.

Fisherman with this disorder are, admittedly,plagued.But what a sweet disease.To a man ,they believe their lives have been altered.They did not choose to be this way-the fish chose them.

To abuse one's body as well as one's equipment in the pursuit of that ultimate hook-up is acceptable.

:lol: I had a Cortisone shot in my left elbow, 2 days ago. {Cortisone flare was really bad this time} 8 days before we leave for our trip down the long bumpy road.

I can only hope for a deep burning pain in both arms that only a big fish can bring.

:lol:Pain,needles,dope and you want more of the same in the other arm,hmm sounds serious,surely some sort of addiction.

We fisherman are a strange lot we spend large somes of money,go without sleep,get sunburn,tear up our equipment,drink to much some times,and we look forward to doing it again and sometimes never catch anything? and to top it all off we tell others what a great time we had:rolleyes:

It does sound like a mental disorder.
I guess the question is whether to spend a couple of hundred dollars a day on fuel to indulge this pathology, or a couple of hundred an hour to a mental health professional to pursue a cure.
Some choices are just harder than others.......

I think fishing is a lot like gambling; that payoff keeps us going regardless of how much we're in the hole.
Now, most fishermen I've met are slot-players, doing the same routine year after year and getting the occasional jackpot.
Others are Blackjack card-counters, applying themselves to maximize the odds.
And then there's the cheaters...

For me, just sliding the boat off the trailer in the predawn calm is my drug.
The sound of the pee hole peeing can be heard, the rush of water to the bait tank and the perfectly smooth engine purring is pure magic...
The little stresses of FM-2 or permanent status cards or the amount of the CFE bill is quickly vanished and I fall back into "it's the way it is" mode quickly.

My luck lately is more boat ride than catching, but for me.....it's all good!!!

Hey Bill,
That would be a pretty juicy grand slam for one day. I would think if anyone has done it in Loreto, it was probably you.

We did pull a huge bull dorado, a #180 marlin and a #100 sailfish on the day of the 1991 solar eclipse. It was memorable.

Where are you heading and when? I'll be heading down on the 1st with planned stops in BoLA and Loreto before pulling into La Paz

We leave San Diego June 22 {Sat} at 630am for GN. Early rise, visit EL Arco, 2-3 days in Bahia Asuncion. Loreto overnight June 25, early rise to San Javier and out the other side to hwy 53. Then on to the East Cape {Verdugos} as home base. La Paz area, Cabo Pulmo, Santiago etc are on the list to visit. Home sometime July 5+/-.
