Calif Amber Alert extends to Baja

BajaNomad - 8-6-2013 at 06:01 PM

There's a Baja connection with the current Amber Alert in California.

James (Jim) Dimaggio of Boulevard, CA is suspected of abducting 16 year-old Hannah Anderson, and her 8 year-old brother Ethan Anderson this past Sunday. Hannah and Ethan's mother Tina was killed in a fire that was set at Dimaggio's home in Boulevard. A young boy's body was also found in the building's remains. It might be Ethan's, but is yet, unknown.

Jim Dimaggio has an online moniker of "bajabuddie". Here is his Instagram account, with pics:
http://instagram.com/bajabuddie

I was told of another possible link to Baja, but as of yet have not confirmed that to be fact - and see no mention of such connection in any media reports.

Reports on this are updated frequently online through news media sources. Thought I'd have people perhaps looking for his blue Nissan Versa.

Dad of missing kids pleads with kidnapping suspect to turn self in

"Brett Anderson... pleaded with his missing daughter, 16-year-old Hannah Anderson, who authorities said was in grave danger, to run away from DiMaggio if she got the chance. 'Hannah, we all love you very much. If you have a chance, you take it. You run. You’ll be found,' Anderson was quoted as saying"

"The California Highway Patrol said the suspect could be headed to Texas or Canada.... investigators had been receiving calls from the public throughout the day Wednesday. 'Realistically, we don’t know where they’re going,' Giannantonio told the station. 'We’re keeping a wide net, and hopefully we’ll find them. We’re looking everywhere. … We’re going to work on this case until we find them.' The FBI joined the search and the Amber Alert was later extended to Mexico's Baja California state, which borders Boulevard."

"DiMaggio is believed to be driving a blue Nissan Versa with a California license plate of 6WCU986. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call (858) 974-2321."

According to a report by a Horse.

Or, maybe it was a guy ON a Horse.

That makes more sense.

UNLESS, the Horse was named Francis.

Who would be Really Old by now.

In any case, the Baja Amber watchers can stand down.

No, I'm not "standing down" until that man is caught and the children are accounted for and safe!

While I agree the possibility of finding them in Baja has lessened, to advise Baja residents and visitors to cease concern that they might be here makes as little sense as the first part of your post, imo.

edited for clarification and to state that I rarely express vocal umbrage here on the board, but felt that this categoric belittling of a tragedy and dismissal of our collective concern and responsibility to be disrespectful.

"Sheriff's officials confirmed Friday night that it was Ethan's body that was found in the burned ruins of DiMaggio's home."

“'It was obviously a planned event,' sheriff’s homicide Capt. Duncan Fraser said. DiMaggio purchased the camping gear about two weeks ago, he said. Fraser described the case as one of the 'worst ones I’ve seen' in 32 years in law enforcement."

Teen Found Safe in Idaho; Alleged Abductor Killed

CASCADE, Idaho (AP) -- San Diego County Sheriff's officials say the man suspected of abducting 16-year-old Hannah Anderson has been killed in Idaho and the teen has been found safe.

San Diego Sheriff William D. Gore said Hannah's father was "elated" his daughter was found alive.

Federal and local law enforcement spent Saturday combing through Idaho's rugged Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness in search of Hannah and her suspected kidnapper, 40-year-old James Lee DiMaggio.

DiMaggio is suspected of killing Hannah's mother, 44-year-old Christina Anderson, and her 8-year-old brother Ethan Anderson, whose bodies were found Sunday night in DiMaggio's burning house in California near the Mexico border.

DiMaggio's car was found Friday morning about 40 miles east of the tiny town of Cascade, parked where the dirt road ends and the Sand Creek trailhead enters the wilderness area.

I've seen others post about her possible complicity in this. Just asking - what about this makes you think this is a possibility? Nothing I've read indicates that she had the slightest interest in him as anything other than a friend of her parents. Did you read something I didn't see?

Complicity Speculation

MrBillM - 8-10-2013 at 09:55 PM

Face IT.

There's no apparent evidence, BUT it would make a far more interesting Tabloid story that way.

Now, of course, only Hannah's version will be told.

Which "could" be the truth.

Kgryfon - 8-11-2013 at 02:43 AM

So, there is no apparent evidence to support a complicity between her and the killer. Ok. Perhaps this is why the tabloids exist.

I say give it, and her, a break until you have any smidgen of information or evidence that points in another direction.

Geez Louise...I'm thinking you should be ashamed. Victim blaming much? Maybe it's her fault for being young and cute? Maybe her dress was "too short." Maybe she was "asking for it" for being 16 and attractive.

When you have the tiniest bit of evidence that this is anything other than what it appears - a psychotic man on a rampage - then let's talk some more. Until then "you" ( and I am not singling anyone out) have no business impugning this young woman who appears to have survived a horrifying experience.

Knickers in a Knot over Speculation

MrBillM - 8-11-2013 at 05:26 PM

I feel pretty safe in noting that Speculation absent facts has been a recurrent theme for quite a while now in this forum.

I could cite quite a few examples.

In this case, it's just harmless fun posing the Teen-**** Potential.

I doubt it.
Anyway, in her TV photos, she is extremely pretty and extremely flirtatious as well.....a bad combination of assets to dangle in front of a sicko.....had she known.
I wonder if her parents ever noticed her behavior and body language in mixed company? Had she been my daughter, I would have noticed.

Mr. BillM,

I have just reported your misogynistic post.
It is not an issue if any of us know her personally.
We all know her. She is every woman, every daughter, wife, mother and girlchild.
How dare you malign this young woman!
Flirtatious coquette and pretty she may or may not be, dressing in what might be considered alluring clothing, she is not guilty of a crime in being or doing so.

She may be guilty of a crime, that is for the law to investigate and determine,
but there has never been a crime in being a woman!

WHO said it WAS ?

MrBillM - 8-11-2013 at 06:02 PM

Sounds like someone's hormones are running awry here.

Be Cool.

Mulegena - 8-11-2013 at 06:25 PM

You are correct, Mr.BillM, probably no one on this board knows this girl, and you are correct that it's not a crime in speculation on the case.

Where I feel you are incorrect, perhaps not legally wrong, but socially and intellectually lacking, is in your glee in aluding to these sexist references and your justification of doing so by declaring them harmless because no one on this board knows her.

MrBillM - 8-13-2013 at 07:22 AM

Earlier, I made a Whimsical speculative reference which I now realize was incorrect.

Referring to the farcical idea of the Horse speaking rather than the Horseman, I mistakenly attributed the name "Francis" as that of a Talking Horse.

Francis was a Talking Mule.

Mister ED was the horse.

Of Course.

I apologize for the error.

And any other factual errors.

Bajatripper - 8-18-2013 at 09:38 AM

I'm way late on this, but here goes anyway. It would seem from what the young lady in question has posted since being rescued that perhaps those who said she wasn't exactly an innocent victim may have been correct in their speculation. I read her interaction on the Internet in the two days after her rescue and find her actions don't seem to support the idea of her being a victim. She doesn't seem to be grieving at all over the loss of her brother and mother.

vgabndo - 8-18-2013 at 10:28 AM

'Tripper, I will support your observation, and suggest that her actions today may very well be the RESULT of her having been victimized by a predatory adult.

It could be as simple as Stockholm Syndrome, the FBI says it effects almost 30% of kidnap/hostage victims.

And yes, it could be that the young lady made her own share of mistakes, but I am willing to fault an adult predator (he presumably accepted her inappropriate attention) before I will indict an adolescent female with a crush on an older male. Even if this IS the first time that ever happened to a teen aged girl.:?:

The fact that the kidnapper was a homicidal arsonist sort of adds to the possibility that he also may have been a child molester.
His values seem to be out of step with the bulk of America. I will stop just short of lumping him with the "Toddlers in Tiaras" promoters of this sort of thing who parade tiny girls, dressed like prostitutes, often clearly against their wishes, before audiences of adults. :fire::fire::fire:

In the United States, one is innocent until proven guilty. Since he is dead, I don't think that he will be tried in a court of law. Any Nomad lawyers out there can shed some light if the insurance can or cannot be paid when he was shot dead before going to court?

It's an insurance policy from his job. Not like he went out and bought it.
Anyway, if he is the kids' father, he was kinda incestuous, I would say. Fathers aren't supposed to have a "crush" on their daughters.

From my brief online research it appears that the beneficiary will not get payment as the insured died in a commission of a crime.

And that is worth about 2cents. ;-)

In Remembrance

Reading a followup after the Today interview, I found it interesting (and touching) that Hannah was paying tribute to the memory of her Slain relations by coloring her Fingernails Red for one and Blue for the other and painting her Toenails with their names.
