Calif Amber Alert extends to Baja

There's a Baja connection with the current Amber Alert in California.

James (Jim) Dimaggio of Boulevard, CA is suspected of abducting 16 year-old Hannah Anderson, and her 8 year-old brother Ethan Anderson this past Sunday. Hannah and Ethan's mother Tina was killed in a fire that was set at Dimaggio's home in Boulevard. A young boy's body was also found in the building's remains. It might be Ethan's, but is yet, unknown.

Jim Dimaggio has an online moniker of "bajabuddie". Here is his Instagram account, with pics:
http://instagram.com/bajabuddie

I was told of another possible link to Baja, but as of yet have not confirmed that to be fact - and see no mention of such connection in any media reports.

Reports on this are updated frequently online through news media sources. Thought I'd have people perhaps looking for his blue Nissan Versa.

Dad of missing kids pleads with kidnapping suspect to turn self in

"Brett Anderson... pleaded with his missing daughter, 16-year-old Hannah Anderson, who authorities said was in grave danger, to run away from DiMaggio if she got the chance. 'Hannah, we all love you very much. If you have a chance, you take it. You run. You’ll be found,' Anderson was quoted as saying"

"The California Highway Patrol said the suspect could be headed to Texas or Canada.... investigators had been receiving calls from the public throughout the day Wednesday. 'Realistically, we don’t know where they’re going,' Giannantonio told the station. 'We’re keeping a wide net, and hopefully we’ll find them. We’re looking everywhere. … We’re going to work on this case until we find them.' The FBI joined the search and the Amber Alert was later extended to Mexico's Baja California state, which borders Boulevard."

"DiMaggio is believed to be driving a blue Nissan Versa with a California license plate of 6WCU986. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call (858) 974-2321."

Taking a Hike in Idaho

According to a report by a Horse.

Or, maybe it was a guy ON a Horse.

That makes more sense.

UNLESS, the Horse was named Francis.

Who would be Really Old by now.

In any case, the Baja Amber watchers can stand down.

No, I'm not "standing down" until that man is caught and the children are accounted for and safe!

While I agree the possibility of finding them in Baja has lessened, to advise Baja residents and visitors to cease concern that they might be here makes as little sense as the first part of your post, imo.

edited for clarification and to state that I rarely express vocal umbrage here on the board, but felt that this categoric belittling of a tragedy and dismissal of our collective concern and responsibility to be disrespectful.

"Sheriff's officials confirmed Friday night that it was Ethan's body that was found in the burned ruins of DiMaggio's home."

“'It was obviously a planned event,' sheriff’s homicide Capt. Duncan Fraser said. DiMaggio purchased the camping gear about two weeks ago, he said. Fraser described the case as one of the 'worst ones I’ve seen' in 32 years in law enforcement."

Playing it SAFE ?

".......................While I agree the possibility of finding them in Baja has lessened................."

I'd say that those odds are somewhat longer than the chances of winning the Powerball given the latest information, BUT everyone has a different risk-assessment system.

Be careful out there.

Interesting Thought

I've voiced the same speculation.

My wife disagrees, but I've seen MANY examples of teenagers gone REALLY Wrong.

Especially Gals who Think they're in Love.

Hope that BOTH are caught alive so we'll have a chance to know.

Teen Found Safe in Idaho; Alleged Abductor Killed

Teen Found Safe in Idaho; Alleged Abductor Killed

CASCADE, Idaho (AP) -- San Diego County Sheriff's officials say the man suspected of abducting 16-year-old Hannah Anderson has been killed in Idaho and the teen has been found safe.

San Diego Sheriff William D. Gore said Hannah's father was "elated" his daughter was found alive.

Federal and local law enforcement spent Saturday combing through Idaho's rugged Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness in search of Hannah and her suspected kidnapper, 40-year-old James Lee DiMaggio.

DiMaggio is suspected of killing Hannah's mother, 44-year-old Christina Anderson, and her 8-year-old brother Ethan Anderson, whose bodies were found Sunday night in DiMaggio's burning house in California near the Mexico border.

DiMaggio's car was found Friday morning about 40 miles east of the tiny town of Cascade, parked where the dirt road ends and the Sand Creek trailhead enters the wilderness area.

I've seen others post about her possible complicity in this. Just asking - what about this makes you think this is a possibility? Nothing I've read indicates that she had the slightest interest in him as anything other than a friend of her parents. Did you read something I didn't see?
