Why I own a Dodge

Skipjack Joe - 10-1-2013 at 11:18 AM

Yeah, but Bonnie and Clyde used a Ford for their getaways.

Pushing up daisies?

Barry A shared that You Tube with me last week, and it is a riot! I am guessing it is 4WD (the first Power Wagon??)!?

David K - 10-1-2013 at 02:40 PM

I was looking at it when it rolled over, but a big pan protects the bottom... American cars were made great, specially before the mid 70's!

Looks Like

Ken sounds just like my Dad Was. My Dad would take a Perfectly good vehicle and work on it until it wouldn't run at all.

be careful......you know on this board if it's not a Toyota it ain't no good :light:

I like both Dodge and Tacoma. Love my 96 Dodge 4x4 Cummings with Banks as a 6800 lb freeway presence and winter survivor, but like my Toyota Tacoma 4x4 for getting unstuck without a major production in soft sand.

PS Never really cared about cars, but loved the video..

The video was great until it got to the part of pulling a log, where they half-wrapped a chain around the 2" BALL of a regular drawbar behind the F150.

I don't think so. There's no visible differential at the front axle. 2X2s are quite capable with those large diameter wheels. That sedan in the video looks just like the 1920 Dodge sedan that my uncle drove well into the '40s. So far as I know it's still running. My cousin still has it and I know he drove it in a parade a few years ago.

???? I do this all the time-------is there a problem doing this if you have the heavy-duty carrier and ball with the big 1 " shank???

There have been winching incidents where the ball broke off and either the ball or strap attachment (shackle) launched back to the vehicle being pulled.

Good point, edm. I do always put a heavy jacket or sleeping bag etc. over the chain or strap to mitigate the possibility of a broken chain or strap etc. becoming a missile. Never occurred to me that the "ball" might break as I always use the 1" shank balls, and NEVER the smaller ones. It is possible, as you point out.

thanks for your reply.
