DENNIS - 10-7-2013 at 04:53 PM

Thanks, Bryan. I'll give it a watch. I watch Jeopardy anyway.

bajacalifornian - 10-7-2013 at 05:18 PM

bryanmckenzie . . . great to see you!

David K - 10-7-2013 at 05:36 PM

It is like waking the dead sometimes... but I try!:bounce::biggrin:

Ateo - 10-7-2013 at 05:43 PM

I haven't watch Jeopardy in 20 years but this will give me a reason to tonight.

Ken Cooke - 10-7-2013 at 07:10 PM

Save Baja for last!LOL

Ken Cooke - 10-7-2013 at 07:11 PM

It appears they wish the Baja category would just go away.LOL

DENNIS - 10-7-2013 at 07:17 PM

It comes on here in 15 minutes, so don't give it away.
Is it stooopid, or terrible?
I hope not. I'm suffering through Wheel of Nonsense waiting for it.

I thought the Tijuana question was in poor taste.

I didn't see it. There was some kind of broadcasting glitch after the first three questions......er....answers in search of a question.

What was it?

.

I'm just pulling your leg. The questions related mainly to the mid riff region and make Baja look like the great destination we all know it to be.

Ohh...good. I thought it might be something like, "can you name this headless man hanging from an overpass by his ankles," or something like that. :o

Ken Cooke - 10-7-2013 at 08:34 PM

I've found that Jeopardy appeals to the sheltered intellectual, and although the contestants appeared hesitant to approach the Baja questions, the answers were not as tough as I thought they would be.

Ohhh yeah????? Did you get answer #3 about the desert plant, whatever it was?
I sure didn't.

EnsenadaDr - 10-7-2013 at 08:53 PM

I saw it. The desert plant was Aloe Vera. Final Jeopardy Question: Name the monkey that hangs from the house that is on the way to La Bufadora. Correct answer: Rey Kong.

EnsenadaDr - 10-7-2013 at 08:56 PM

Sheltered? Do you mean the homeless don't watch Jeopardy?

I saw that it grows in salty soil.

DanO - 10-7-2013 at 11:49 PM

Damn shame. I love Baja and Jeopardy!, but those questions were weak. Whatever.

Was the Final question about Baja? I lost interest.

bryanmckenzie - 10-8-2013 at 08:09 AM

I'm glad a few of you got to see it. It's a good thing I'm 3 hours ahead of everyone so that I could make the announcement.

Question 3 was a picture of a common cactus. As I recall the answer was "what is a prickly pear cactus?"

Time ran out and they didn't get to finish all 6 questions in the category. Here is a link to other Jeopardy-Baja related items ... https://www.google.com/search?q=jeopardy+baja&ie=utf-8&a...:official

I'll post this separately also, but I shall be returning to Baja in late October dental work in Rosarito Beach and a 2-3 week road trip. Hoping to make the Punta Eugenia-Asuncion-La Bocana-Abreojos circuit before heading down to Playas Pacificas near La Paz.

BajaBlanca - 10-8-2013 at 08:28 AM

Playas Pacificas? We have been there ...

When in Abreojos, make sure you visit us in La Bocana! If you shedule a visit for a Saturday, join us for Happy Hour at our new local eatery:

Check out the new Bocana Adventures Restaurant on the beach and ask for a margarita and cheesehamburger (i know it should be Mexican fare but trust me, the cheeseburgers are great). There are cabanas for rent at $50 a night ....

I've called them "quesoburguesas" a thousand times in restaurants around here and got nothing but confused stares and corrections. I started to think it was a dirty word or something.
Anyway.....it's "hamburguesa con queso."
Where's the ham?

David K - 10-8-2013 at 08:50 AM

In L.A. Bay taco stands, a carne asada taco with cheese is a 'quesataco'!

Here too. In sad fact, my favorite quesataco joint in Ensenada, Mk Taco, recently burned down.
I'm in mourning.

CortezBlue - 10-8-2013 at 10:32 AM

Baja for $400

Ding Ding Ding

It's the Daily Double

"The biggest know it all about Baja, and he will tell you, constantly, that he knows it all?"

Who Is?

Hi Blanca,

A visit to La Bocana was totally intended along the way. Spend a night. Eat well. Hamburgesas. New friends. Several margaritas.

Details to follow in a separate post.

You mean the K in MkTaco? I think the K is correct. They used to be called McTaco, but when McDonalds came to town, they made the little taco stand cease and desist from further use of the "Mc" .
Kinda petty of Mac, I believe, but true.

Reminds me of the Trivial Pursuit game of yrs. back,
a ? I got was ' What body of water separates Baja
from the Mexican Mainland' ? I jumped on that faster than DENNIS going thru the doors at Sharkeys, as I proudly
blurted out the Sea of Cortez, at which point I was read
the correct answer, and would have known it if not
my c-ckyness, the Gulf of California

A new thread: Baja Trivia may be fun (again... as we did this often back on Amigos de Baja)... Lorenzo de Baja, David E and myself were frequent contributors of trivia questions...

Like when was the last reported eruption of Tres Virgenes volcano?

What crop were the English colonists trying to grow in San Quintin?

What is the source of the word Coromuel, the local name for a sea breeze in La Paz?
