Juan found a fantastic Mural Artist!!!!!

shari - 4-28-2014 at 11:54 AM

While on vacation Juan gave a ride to a man into Mulege and they got to talking and the fellow says he is a sign painter and asked him if we had any signs to paint. Juan tells the guy to look us up if he's ever in town...so he shows up a couple days ago and we decide to try him out....ya never know how great things look till you try them on..right ladies!!!!

Well, the guy ROCKS!!! Just hand him a picture of what you want and Shazaaaam...it's done in a couple of hours!

So I was thinking if any of you want something painted on a wall in or outside of your house, I highly recommend Agustin who lives in Sta.Rosalia and his work is very very reasonable.

He started off with our Oficina sign, then a dolphin over the Dolphin Room and he just finished painting a gray whale and baby on our wall! Next up is a yellowtail!!! We're on a roll.

You are right! He is fantastic! What an artist.

DENNIS - 4-28-2014 at 12:19 PM

Send him up here. I have a job for him.

DawnPatrol - 4-28-2014 at 12:28 PM

wow he is good!

Bobvaso - 4-28-2014 at 12:33 PM

Really nice Shari and Juan. I see a mermaid in my future! Haha.

vgabndo - 4-28-2014 at 12:40 PM

Shari...before he gets away...a camp ground sign on the Beach House wall!

vandenberg - 4-28-2014 at 01:09 PM

Nice work.
If he works around the mid peninsula, maybe you should post how to contact him. Surely folks in Loreto could provide him with work. Lots of blank walls here.
I've always admired the murals in La Paz.

Really nice view
from below.

I like it . . .

shari - 4-28-2014 at 01:44 PM

Sr.Agustin Aguilar doesnt have a phone or fixed address at the moment so you can contact him through me the next couple days. He does play guitar and is very pleasant. We are housing and feeding him while he works here which is most likely what will be needed if he does a job for someone....we'll see about getting him a cell phone.

DENNIS - 4-28-2014 at 02:08 PM

Shari....does Sr. Aguilar have a portfolio of past creations?

shari - 4-28-2014 at 02:15 PM

prolly not...but I sure was impressed how he could quickly look at a drawing and get it up on a wall lickety split.

Lotsa talent, obviously. He needs to have a cheap camera.

Baja Mama might use him when she opens her next restaurant!!

She's had Luis Cervantes do her work and after seeing Sr. Aguilar's work above, I won't comment on our local expert except that he does have a foto portfolio of his work.

shari - 4-28-2014 at 03:07 PM

I just asked Agustin and he had photos of his work on his phone that dropped in a bucket of paint. He was telling me about murals he did in Cabo...one at La Jarocha restaurant...an undersea scene..another one of traditional dancers in TJ...he gets around!

His work looks fantastic !

Your comment about his phone being dropped in a bucket of paint reminded me of the time when my eye glasses fell into a bucket of glue while I was laying wood flooring!!!

jbcoug - 4-28-2014 at 03:30 PM

Shari, please share pictures of the other projects he did for you. The whales are great!

shari - 4-28-2014 at 03:59 PM

Ok, he's starting a sign on the wall tomorrow and then Juan wants a yellowtail on another wall on the Abalone Suite too...we're heading to san roque where Juan is fishing abalone so no tellin when I'll be online. There was a monster 10' swell the last few days supposed to abate tomorrow.

Bajaboy - 4-28-2014 at 07:21 PM

Cool stuff. We have considered putting a mural on our wall. If he is around this summer, we might be game.

Barbareno - 4-29-2014 at 06:36 AM

Holy mole. The decal's on our 5th wheel are starting to peel off. I can see a sunset in our horizon.

Pompano - 4-29-2014 at 07:08 AM

That's why I decided to personalize my old Minnie Winnie, Barbareno....when the Baja sun starts to take it's toll, get out the paints and let your imagination take over.

shari - 4-29-2014 at 05:19 PM

Here are today's developments...a new sign and a nice yellowtail....tomorrow will be the campground sign!

churro - 4-29-2014 at 05:40 PM

Makes me want to get down there and fish!

Udo - 4-29-2014 at 05:53 PM

I'll pick him up from Mulege, if I have to to, to have him paint a bunch of flip flops on the house.
For sure we'll be back the last part of June.

This is the artist I've been looking for.

liknbaja127 - 4-29-2014 at 07:30 PM

Shari, Juan, looks great! Hopefully we can get back that way soon! We hade a great time there, even if it was only for 1 night. :bounce:

Frank - 4-29-2014 at 09:06 PM

chuckie - 4-30-2014 at 03:21 PM

shari - 5-11-2014 at 06:05 PM

well, we just cant let go of Agustin...here is his latest work on the Beach House wall...a lovely mermaid! He is now working on window frames.

Michael...I will let him know. He may do a mural for Baja Gypsy too so could still be around when you get here.

shari - 6-29-2014 at 06:20 AM

Agustin has made a big impact on Asuncion...he has painted many stores to give a facelift to the village. Today he caught a ride north to get some new brushes etc. and said he would be available to paint in case anyone up there wants a mural or something painted on their house, store, boat, RV..whatever.

U2U me and I can hook you up. He may be around Pta.Banda and Ensenada for a bit depending on what work develops.
