My girlfriend and I will be staying in La Paz for a week around July 4th. We were looking for recommendations for beaches, restaurants, fishing,

July is usually the hottest month in La Paz, average highs for the last 36 years for July are 98 degrees...So if you feel like hiking wear a hat and
bring plenty of water...
Fishing should be pretty good, I always likes Tecolote Beach north of town...
Good local museum downtown with A/C for those really hot days,LOL...
My fun time Restaurant/Bar is the Tailhunter on the main beachfront street over looking the bay.......enjoy

Lots to do, but the heat limits many things, like hiking. Stay on or in the water. There is a stand-up paddle board rental place that will keep you
on the water and you can paddle over to el Magote and into some of the mangrove channels. If you get out to Tecolote, go over one beach s/e and the
rocky area is good for snorkeling. Beaches in that area are nice too. You can talk to one of the panga operators on the malecon and take a trip to
dive with sea lions and snorkel one of the islands. A short hike is across from Marina Palmira up the hill for an incredible view of La Paz, the bay,
and the islands. Best you do it verrry early in the morning. Lots of hikes if you have a car, and it is cooler. Save that for a wintertime vist

Get a panga tour with snorkeling toward Espirtu Santo starting at before sunrise 630AM preferably with a canopy. Ask the panga captain to be flexible
and adjust the tour as desired. Or maybe do two trips one starting from Town up along the peninsula to Tecolote and another day from Tecolote to
Espirtu Santo, Isla Partida and Islotes.
Drive to Balandra beach and Tecolote for fun beach day. Another day stop at Playa Tesoro for lunch. Visit the pool and beach bar at La Concha for
sunset. Visit Beach Pool and brunch spot Hacienda Posada on the water next to Grande Baja, by the way there are many beach front places on the beach
at calle Nayarit is one, at grande baja hotel, and at Hacienda Posada (Englebert Humperdinks old place) The beach there is a nice place to walk for
sunrise or sunset along the bay.
Walk the waterfront at sunrise/sunset.
Visit the restaurants at Vista Corral Marina. Take the free ferry shuttle to Magote and enjoy the palapa.
Visit Corumuel beach and playa Cascada? watersides.
Visit Marina CostaBaja and enjoy the nicer restaurant Azul.
Walk downtown and visit el callejon (alley).
Drive to El Triunfo, San Bartolo, and Los Barilles, visit Las Palmas hotel pool.
Golf at CostaBaja!

Take a drive up to the "clubhouse" at the Costa Baja golf course. One of the best views of La Paz.
Take another drive to Todos Santos or Cerritos Beach - it might be a little cooler on the Pacific side.

Helpful to buy one or two simple umbrellas to bring to the beach, set them up together in the shallow water and use plastic chairs to sit with your
feet in the water and enjoy and stay cool. You can buy the umbrellas at most large grocery stores. Buy/bring a soft cooler and purchase drinks at
smaller stores where they pack drinks with ice for you. Breezemart and Oxxos or Aramburros are not the best place to buy drinks, find a small store
that has free ice, always ask first if they have hielo gratis para clientes and go there for your stuff each morning as you go or buy a bag of ice.
Don't move around much between 11am-4pm its easy to get dehydrated and sunburned, notice how locals stay in the shade of a tree or building and do not
stand out in the sun during the daytime heat. Many gringos make a mistake of going out in the sun in the daytime without being acclimated and become
seriously sunburned and dehydrated and their trip is ruined. Drink water early in the day.Udo - 6-15-2014 at 09:04 AM
I will agree with gnukid.
I have spent a lot of time in La Paz, and it is truly hot and humid.
I do have one recommendation: Stay at Casa Tuscany B&B. Take the Romeo & Juliet room. It has a private roof-top patio for superb night time
views. There is a bistro table and seating, so you can enjoy your wine, tequila or beer for some superb sunsets/sunrises.willardguy - 6-15-2014 at 09:09 AM

I forgot to mention that Casa Tuscany is about 300 feet from the Malecòn.
Also, do not eat at the Applebees restaurant at the corner. Many people have gotten ill from their food.

Thanks again everyone! Where we are from it reaches triple digits on the regular basis during summer, so hopefully we wont be too bummed about the
heat. Yeah it would have been much nicer to go during a time when the weather is more mild but unfortunately this is the only time we can go and we

Find a map asap! Lot's of the shops and restaurants that cater to tourists will have a some nice, free paper maps for La Paz, Todos Santos and Los
Cabos
Rent stand up paddle boards at Harker Boards on the east/north end of the Malecon (good food there too!)
Take a boat ride to Isla Espiritu Santo and snorkel with the Seal colony (Baja Expeditions is a great outfit, or Mar y Adventuras)
Go to the Shack for happy hour and a burger (west/south end of the Malecon)
Rent a car and check out Todos Santos (kind of a yuppie place, but worth a look) then head down to Pescadero and Playa Los Cerritos for a beach day
and maybe surfing lessons?
Spend a day at Playas Tecolote and Balandra (there are shuttles from the Malecon to the beaches that run hourly)
Check out either the Bravo Market (corner of Bravo and Prieto, good prepared food at the counters) or the Madero Mercado in 'downtown' (Delgado y
Revolucion 1910)
Eat street tacos! (You'll be fine)
Stella had live music on Tuesday nights, but that may have just been during 'the season'

If you are a tad lowerclass than a lot of usamericans visiting la Paz (where I lived for 5 1/2 years before joining the weather wusses), you might
want to take a different tack...sit at the play area on the malecon across from the ice cream store with the polkadot tree out front and ask the first
10 people you see...and check out casa Buena b&b, where the pool is great, the people vastly entertaining, and your hostess, the incomparable
