Looks like the tenth named storm of the eastern Pacific is getting ready to go public; should gain strength and power for a named storm, and yet
again, set to sail due west from the Generator area. Should send surf and wave north, but Baja is dodging bullets thanks due to El Niņo (?) we hope
(?) and another bullet dodged. Safe and sound, so far. Ain't Mutha Nature GRAND!!
Ya never know............. it sure is fun to watch.

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical
Storm Karina, located several hundred miles south-southwest of the
southern tip of the Baja California peninsula.
1. An elongated area of low pressure located about 1200 miles
east-southeast of the Big Island of Hawaii continues to produce
disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions
are expected to be conducive for gradual development of this system
during the next several days while it moves slowly westward. This
system should move into the Central Pacific basin late Thursday or
Friday and is likely to become a tropical depression later this week
or over the weekend.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...50 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...80 percent.
2. An area of low pressure is forecast to form well south-southwest of
the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula by Saturday.
Some gradual development of this system is possible early next week
while the system moves generally northwestward.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent.

11 E is now Tropical Storm Karina, and is expected to gain hurricane status by tomorrow night. Good news is, it's 5-600 miles south of Cabo and
headed west, so Hawaii may be threatened eventually, maybe not.
BDR, the gulf has been more than warm enough for 'canes, but the El Niņo effect has not only created a whole lot of named storms this year, but
created a global weather pattern that's sent 'em all packing west... so far... knock on wood. It's an amazing anomaly. Probably somewhat responsible
for the lack of named storms in the Atlantic theater too. NOAA does show some chubasco action off the warm waters of Cortez.

I have it on 'favorites', it's fun to watch the weather develop, where it comes from and where it goes. The 'Chubasco/Huracan/Tormenta' definition

I use Wundermap on my ipad and watch approaching weather. The problem with that squall that came through a couple of weeks ago was that we were
asleep.

Kewl. I use wunderground.com as my first go-to site here at home too, lots of good links there, including NEXRAD maps. I must've been a frustrated
meteorologist in a former life.
