Great photos Joe. :)

Just incredible, thanks!

I drove from California to Alaska and back in 1975, still want to do it again.

Last trip to Alaska was 5 years ago to Dutch Harbor. Bald Eagles, whales, and great fishing for cod, salmon and halibut. Sorry I don't have photos. It is a great place.

Cypress - 10-6-2014 at 02:28 AM

Thanks.:D

It must've have been even more amazing back then. That cabin was from a homesteader on Lake Byers at around your time (1968).

There is still much wildlife though. I almost had a roadkill of a grizzly. He just jumped out in front of me on the road leaving Seward.

Skipjack Joe - 10-6-2014 at 02:49 AM

waitzaname and Cypress - glad you liked them.

I have a few more to share.

Pescador - 10-6-2014 at 06:58 AM

Marika and I did that trip in 2004 and spent the entire summer up there and this summer I and a friend are going again. I absolutely love the drive up and the drive back. Every turn in the road opens a new vista and experience. This time I will know a little more what to expect so it should be great and maybe we can expose all the people on the way to a little Mariachi Music from Mexico.

sd - 10-6-2014 at 08:25 AM

Skipjack -

Still looks incredible based on your photos. One of my favorite areas was the Yukon Terrirtory, very rural and fewer tourists.

Pescador -

Have a great 2nd trip. I need to do it again.

Great shots. Have not been to that part of the world, yet. Only beginners Alaska, southwest.

A book I highly recommend for those with an affinity for Alaska or those who just want to read some great true stories about the place.

I love southwest Alaska!

These, however, were from the interior, mostly between Denali and the Richardson Hwy.

Skipjack Joe - 10-6-2014 at 10:41 AM

This was shot with an iphone.

Natalie Ann - 10-6-2014 at 10:49 AM

Quite an enjoyable collection of images, Igor. The two of the mountains and rivers/lakes certainly tell us you were in Alaska. I especially like the second one.

And that well-worn timber cabin seems so very inviting.

My favorite, though, is the group of tall trees in the dark. Something really magical about that shot.

Thank you much for taking the time with this post.

Skipjack Joe - 10-6-2014 at 11:25 AM

I also experimented with videos a bit. You have to turn up the volume to hear to water.

Changed the size. It's blurier now. Video was shot with an iphone so you can't expect much.

So's you know, Igor, video show is teensy.

Forget all the "should"s in your life, return to the basics of who you are in your heart.

Yep, now I like your image even more.

Sounds like an upbeat individual.

Glad I could only make out those couple of lines. I made different sense out of it.

woody with a view - 10-6-2014 at 12:59 PM

VERY NICE!

Hey Rob, glad to see ya!

Bob H - 10-6-2014 at 01:15 PM

Clouds drifting over landscape. The cloud formations never got tiring for me.

BajaBlanca - 10-6-2014 at 03:22 PM

what a beautiful place! the cabin does look inviting and the landscape is breathtakingly spectacular. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us.

Skipjack Joe - 10-6-2014 at 03:29 PM

I don't know if you noticed, Blanca, but those trees are not growing behing the cabin. They are actually growing on it's roof. There is a foot of moss on the roof and the trees are growing out of that. I'm sure it will all collapse soon enough.

Ken Bondy - 10-6-2014 at 03:33 PM

Amanita muscaria. I have a friend who eats these, claiming they are delicious. The secret? Boil them 3 times, removing all water each time. Says that breaks down all the toxins.

Skipjack Joe - 10-7-2014 at 09:56 PM

A really poor quality image. I just like it for other reasons.

How did you manage to let go your grip on the hand cable long enough to use your camera?!

Alex took this shot at a high iso. The quality is not very good but I really like it.
