By rooting around a little bit, I found these three collections dated yesterday:

Those look like most of the photos Blanca published on FB.

I think that for now she has given up publishing the blog of her trip because of too many glitches within the blog program.

Maiden Castle Iron Age Fort village

BajaBlanca - 5-23-2015 at 01:59 PM

We went to this man-made iron age fort -ie: before the Romans invaded Britain.

They built up the hill to make invaders visible from afar

They made a maze to get up it to make invasion very difficult

The people lived at the top

Truly amazing feat:

Cool!

4Cata - 5-24-2015 at 12:40 AM

Thanks, Blanca, one of these days I'll see it in person. Really love your posts. Enjoy!

BajaBlanca - 5-24-2015 at 02:07 AM

thanks -much more to come.....I have abandoned the blog since it wont load my pics. If anyone knows of another freebee blog with picture loading capability, pls. let me know.

I created an account for photobucket under the name Blanquita Heil which Les though amusing. I am out of room on bajablanca1 and almost out of space on bajablanca2, so I had to get creative!

Ok, off to explore more soon. ta ta (as they say here)

THE FARM WE ARE AT IN SOMERSET, ENGLAND

LINK TO PICS

http://s296.photobucket.com/user/bheilheil/media/Farm%20in%2...

THE MAIN HOUSE - this beautiful home has raised 4 generations of kids. It is a working dairy farm although Arthur is now downsizing in preparation for retirement. He does the vegetable gardening and his wife Genesta does the flower gardening. England is famous for its gardens and Somerset is living proof - everyone's garden is more colorful than the last!

THIS HAS BEEN A DAIRY FARM - NO ONE TO TAKE OVER MEANS CHANGES CHANGES

THERE IS MORE BUT I HAVE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO DOWNLOAD THE PICS FROM THE NEW PHONE WE BOUGHT....

TMW - 5-24-2015 at 08:29 AM

Beautiful and peaceful, thanks.

BajaBlanca - 5-24-2015 at 09:51 AM

TMW it is amazingly quiet here - the birds sing all day long. No rain (we are lucky) and slight breezes. Coolish but not cold. Love it!

BajaBlanca - 5-24-2015 at 09:56 AM

Paul - those are good links!

Roman House in Dorchester

BajaBlanca - 5-24-2015 at 09:59 AM

In case you didn't get a chance to see this - Paul made a link that works!

This was found and preserved - isn't it amazing how HUGE the Roman empire was???? This is in the south of England!

A restaurant built in 1616

BajaBlanca - 5-24-2015 at 10:03 AM

Typical here in England that older buildings are preserved and converted into businesses. The best way to keep history alive.

This is where we had lunch a couple days ago - great food - sorry that we were so busy eating that I did not get pics but the sandwiches were huge and could easily have fed 2 with only one. We ended up taking half home and eating it the next day.

Thanks for posting Blanca! Nice pics!

BajaBlanca - 5-25-2015 at 03:57 PM

today was auction day - we went to 2 auctions-one in Bath and one in Binegar. I love the name Binegar since it rhymes with Vinegar

I have mixed the pics up but both auction viewings were interesting - one had more furniture and the other had more "things"

enjoy the show:

THEY HAD THE MUSIC BOX PLAYING and a lot of albums to go with it: #313

sewing kit:

it is upside down but it is a very old beautiful volume of SHAKESPEARE

Some grandma had an album of probably 50 postcards - birthday cards etc

tea anyone? I don't drink tea and I think I am considered remarkably odd!

BOOK TITLE - THE COMPLETE ANGLER:

THIS WAS ONE OF TWO IN THE BATH AUCTION AND I UNDERSTAND THEY SHOULD FETCH A PRETTY PENNY BEING ONE OF THE EARLIEST DUTCH CERAMICS:

WE ARE VERY LUCKY AS THEY WEATHER HAS BEEN COOL, NOT COLD. SOMETIMES CLOUDY BUT BUT NOT RAINY.

IT WAS SUCH A RELAXING DAY - MORE PICS SOON ON THE PUB WE ATE AT!

WELLS CATHEDRAL: IT IS VERY BEAUTIFUL AND TRULY AWE INSPIRING. YOU CAN SEE THE GOTHIC SPIRES FROM ALL OVER TOWN. WE HAD BEEN HERE BEFORE BUT I STILL WANTED TO GO AGAIN. LES'S FEET HURT FROM ALL THE WALKING - IN THE END HE WAITED FOR ME IN THE CROWN PUB WHILE I WENT INTO THE CATHEDRAL.....

LOTS OF FOLKS AND THEIR WIVES BURIED IN THIS CATHEDRAL:

THE BOX FOR THE COPE IS REALLY BEAUTIFUL DARK WOOD:

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE MINI TOUR ... now for the city itself!

Thanks, Blanca...

The attempted fetch prices seemed very reasonable.

WELLS -the smallest city in England

THIS IS WHERE LES HAD A "PINT" WHILE I BROWSED THE CATHEDRAL:

WE HAD LUNCH AT A FORMER MEDIEVAL JAIL:

STORE WINDOWS:

MORE TO COME .....

BajaBlanca - 5-26-2015 at 03:29 PM

Street is the name of the village closest to where we are staying. It is quaint and small. Just a bunch of ma and pa shops, which I love!

A one road town, here looks toward the other direction

Typical British cap for the new sports car Les bought!

And the flowers are lovely

**************************************************

After each country, I like to think back to what my overall feeling was and here goes:

southern England is beautiful in that it is so green, lush, full of layer upon layer of history

stone age
roman
modern day

southern England means pubs, pasties
