RV space for Ensenada???

bajalearner - 7-17-2015 at 10:47 AM

I am interested in an RV spot around Ensenada for a 36 foot newer motor home. I will make the stay extended if I like the spot and price.

Please let me know of locations and price info you have knowledge of. I'm open to various situations including property sitting/watching with my RV.

bajaguy - 7-17-2015 at 10:59 AM

Where in Ensenada would you like to be????

North of the main business/tourist district by the Coral Hotel/Marina; South at the Estero Beach Hotel/resort or out on Punta Banda???

Depends on what you like/want to do and how "close" to Ensenada you want to be.

Premier spot is Estero Beach. Full service and beach front. You can use all hotel amenities. A little on the expensive side, but you can negotiate for extend stays.

RV park is the lower right corner

There is a really nice RV campground just about 200' past Campo La Jolla, in the Punta Banda area. Full hook-ups, sewer and water, and rates are negotiable. Plus is beachfront.

Villarino's RV Park:

Depends on how far you want to be from town, and what services are available

Thanks Terry. My memory failed me at this time.

OK, as for where exactly I would want in Ensenada, I will say that I'm a city kid so near downtown is better but I will go out from there to a nice spot. Along or near the coast is preferable.

bajaguy - 7-17-2015 at 02:42 PM

North of downtown there are a couple of places along the coast north of the Coral Hotel/Marina.

I would suggest the Estero Beach RV park. You are close to downtown, but far away enough to be quiet. Plenty of places to eat and shop in the Estero area

bajaguy - 7-17-2015 at 03:41 PM

Up north, returning on the 26th of September. Give me a shout when you head south!!

Have to agree that Estero provides a great deal of amenities. If you are just looking to store an RV, it may be a bit expensive. But, if you are looking to stay, then enjoy the two pools and restaurant and bar on site, as well as a number of restaurants nearby. Not to mention gate guaded security.

I might be looking to stay several months if I like the spot so I will have to check the Price of Estero.

Do you know the rate for an RV?

DENNIS - 7-18-2015 at 07:25 AM

San Miguel is another option. It's right by the first toll plaza going north out of Ensenada.
It's a local hot-spot for surfers, and it would give you more convenient access to Ensenada centro, as well as Guadalupe Valley.

Probably a bit less expensive than Estero as well.

The entire area around Villarino's & La Jolla is very busy and noisy and crowded on the weekends esp. during the summer.
Two other places not so crowded but not full service (and less expensive) are Lomas del Mar towards La Bufadora & El Refugio in Cantu. Punta Banda tends to be a bit cooler than Ensenada. Estero is O.k. provided you like a lot of traffic/noise.

cliffh - 7-18-2015 at 10:08 AM

??? been here since 9th, traffic noise, ????? from where

They are all near the coast, in this area. You'll probably be "near Ensenada" (think 10-15 miles) rather than near downtown, and you wouldn't like RV-ing near downtown. RV-ers don't hang around Ensenada downtown, other than going to dentist or Migra. There is not much to do in downtown, and hardly any beaches. Estero is about 10 miles South, and San Miguel - to the North. I'm not a big fan of overpriced places like Estero, but staying South of the city gives an advantage of easier shopping, with malls and grocery stores way before you reach Ensenada.

bajaguy - 7-18-2015 at 08:47 PM

12.6 KM or 7.8 miles from Estero Beach RV Park to the Riviera Cultural Center and

13 Km or 8 miles from Estero Beach RV Park to the Giant Flagpole/3 Heads Park on the middle of the tourist district

There is plenty to do downtown, all you have to do is look.....or ask

Thanks for the info, I gave up my apartment in TJ June 1st, moved into my motor home, and I am currently camping in the mountains of CA and Nevada but when I get back to MX, I will check out these places around Ensenada. I have been to Estero and Punta Banda, both very nice and I will check out all the other suggestions.

The website for Estero shows an RV spot is 60 dllrs/night with 20% off for long term. $48 x 30= $1440. If that's the cost, it's too much money.

SFandH - 7-19-2015 at 08:29 AM

Didn't Hussongs build a RV park along the bay in the northern part of town?

DENNIS - 7-19-2015 at 08:46 AM

Hussong used to have a beachcamp behind Quintas Papagayo. It's the only camp I've ever seen that was closed for future development around '89. Owner gave the long time tenants a year to vacate. Some did...others tried to fight it. A year almost to the day from the notice, the bulldozers were at their door.
Anyway, I think they did put something there.

cliffh - 7-19-2015 at 09:23 AM

Call estero and I am sure you can cut that in half. if for long term.

Alm - 7-19-2015 at 10:04 AM

Bajalearner, 20% discount is a ripoff. Common practice is 40-50% discount. Ex, if daily cost is $30, monthly cost will be around $500. And more discount yet for annual rent.

$48 a day is on the high side, probably the highest rate in the area. Don't know why. Shop around, there should be camps with hookups for less. Some places won't answer the phone, this isn't a Holiday Inn, you'll have to negotiate in person.

I recall one camp adjacent to Estero and Mona Lisa (right between the two), called El Faro. Gate, security, hook-up, beach. Probably in upper 20s or lower 30s per day. Didn't stop at Faro, stayed in Mona Lisa a few days - this latter one is in decay, a few stored rigs but hardly any tourists or permanent residents. What I like about this Southern suburb (called Chapultepec) is that grocery stores are within walking distance, and there are transit buses to downtown, so you can avoid pains of Mexican traffic and parking.

Estero won't bargain much. They run a pretty tight ship and the owner doesn't need your money.

bajaguy - 7-19-2015 at 11:07 AM

Talked to some people from Sacramento at Estero last year, they were there for 4 months, got 50% the listed rates and were quite happy.

Try and talk to one of the owners (Novelo family) to make the deal

And make sure you make the deal ahead of time, or the gate guards won't even let you in the gate.

If this is true, Estero is an odd place. On most camps in a day time you can go/drive in, see whether you like it or not, talk to whoever is responsible and negotiate the price. Maybe I won't like my space, or the beach, or noisy bar. Or - the owner.

bajaguy - 7-19-2015 at 03:26 PM

I have never had a problem driving in and out of Estero, even in a friends MoHo..........maybe it's you!!!

Terry,

I went by there this past Saturday, and the jerks at the gate would not let me in to visit with Cliffh.
They said that no rooms were available, I could not visit the hotel site for evaluation, nor I could not visit with Cliffh at the RV park unless I paid them a $10.00USD entry fee.

So they were jerks. Poor publicity for senor Novelo too.

cliffh - 7-20-2015 at 12:27 PM

Just found out, if you pay the $10 it is a credit at the Bar and Restaurant, so have bite to eat and pop and you get your money back.

Udo - 7-20-2015 at 12:56 PM

If the gate guard would have said so, (instead of being a jerk), I would have paid it just to have a couple of beers with Cliff.

Well, not really getting you money back, more like a peddling. They've probably lost more than one prospective customer by charging "admission fee" to the camp. Ok, if camp owner doesn't want our money, his wish shall be granted.

BajaRun - 7-20-2015 at 03:29 PM

Bajalearner, Last week I went to and checked out every RV Park from Rosarito to La Bufadora. I am planning on staying for 2 1/2 months. Here is what I found in the Ensenada Area.

1. Estero Beach. $78.00/night . Manager said my monthly rate would be $968.00. It's a nice park but it wouldn't be my first choice because of the high price. They have a Lucas Oil Off Road event July 31- Aug 2 and are sold out for that weekend, the manager said they would make room for me.

2. Kings Coronita RV Park. Overlooking the Coral Marina. Dolores King. Front Row $500/month. 2nd Row $350/month. Not nearly the nice amenities as Estero but the price is right.

Those are the only 2 that I would personally consider. I decided to stay in La Mision at Clam Beach Resort. $368/month

Good Luck with your search.

Thanks, I will be back to TJ around August 1st and will go look at these and the other suggested parks. I'm having a nice trip with my 17 year old son in the northern California mountains but I miss Baja. Going to the giant redwoods and the coast next.

Diesel has been about $3. I used the "GasBuddy" App and found a small store selling diesel for $2.76 in Carson City. Great App. Tank is 110 gallons

Haven't had to buy propane but filled up in San Diego near the airport for $1,88/gal + tax
I appreciate all the input.

Alm - 7-24-2015 at 01:00 PM

Propane there is cheaper than in San Diego.
