Tecate import limits

jack - 10-14-2015 at 11:06 AM

I was wondering if the Mexican border inspectors at the Tecate crossing are still checking for meat limits and bans. A few months ago it was reported that they were. I was wondering if that was just one time thing and now they just are no longer bothering.:?:

They do what they want...when they want. Never count on other's experiences at the border. Just go by the rules, or take your chances.

They worked out on us there a couple of weeks ago pretty good. Had to pay 2400 pesos duty on items. I believe meat is on the prohibited list.

We crossed there this am headed to Punta Banda. there was around 6 agents leaned up against the wall in the shade .One of them gave us the Evil Eye but didn't wave us inn. I have never ben turned back but as others have said be prepared.
when carrying groceries I leave them in the store shopping bags when they look they never look in the bag.

Cheese and wine - on the prohibido list?

jack - 10-19-2015 at 01:38 PM

I believe you are limited to 3kg of cheese. I don't know about the wine.

IMHO, J.P.
When crossing the Mexican borders, pretend those Mexican border inspectors are not there. I.E. have a conversation with your partner while crossing, and NEVER make eye contact with them, because they assume that by your looking at them you are guilty of something.
The only times I have ever been pulled over is when I got a red light, or sometimes when I drive the FJ Cruiser even with a green light.

Evil eyes? and ignore? I just follow the rules and buy Mexican. They have moved into the 20th century and have everything.
