You never know how it will end up when you go fishing. Link is a short version of the book 438 Days, the account of the fisherman lost off South
western Mexico in 2012 who survived.
WOW is correct---- what a story---- I just pre-ordered the kindle edition and will be available Nov.17th--- what an amazing adventure of survival

is this the guy who ate his fishing buddy along the way?dtbushpilot - 11-7-2015 at 03:37 PM
Story says he dropped him overboard after he died....seems like a waste of available protein to me....
Geez, David....last time I take a moto trip with you
Don't be so selfish GED, you could feed a small village...sargentodiaz - 11-9-2015 at 12:29 PM
I had a link to the story in the UK's Guardian this morning but erased it after posting it elsewhere.
From everything I've read, this is a true story. The individual is loath to do interviews and wants nothing more than to live the life he did before.LancairDriver - 12-16-2015 at 11:21 PM
As always, the vultures smell blood and are gathering.JZ - 12-17-2015 at 09:28 AM

It would be interesting to see some of the cute commentators spend even one day with this guy out 100 miles fishing in an open panga in the weather
with a single outboard motor, which he routinely did for years before this incident.Im sure there would be some soiled panties.

i'm not cute so i know you aren't referring to me, but now that i've had time to digest this story some more it would seem that a dead body in the
middle of the Pacific wouldn't be appetizing for more than a couple of days max so i doubt homey partook of the buffet. now, since they had fishing
gear (i hope, or why would they have been there anyway) a few strips of flesh would provide bait for weeks, if not longer!
And you're right Lancair, i'm sure the line to endure 400+ days adrift is fairly short.....motoged - 12-18-2015 at 07:06 PM
DT pointed out I would feed a small village.....so, we would be good guys to go fishing with....woody with a view - 12-18-2015 at 07:08 PM
not many villages in the middle of the Pacific, Ged. i think you're safe!LancairDriver - 12-18-2015 at 08:51 PM
You need to read the book "438 Days" to even have a clue how this went down or begin to appreciate the stuff this guy was made of. I think it's safe
to say very few here, including myself could compare.
