.....I don't think it's a great idea to set-up the expectation of covering 1/3 of baja event-free in one single dawn-to-dusk period,,especially on
one's first drive, in fact I consider it somewhat irresponsible.
The baja we've all come to know and love is full of surprise adventures,,that's one of the 'thrills'! Surely an event-free drive for a first
timer would be the exception rather than the rule!?
How many small towns on this high-crown, potholed, shoulder-less highway? How many little surprises await such a first-time driver?
IIRC,,,the OP posted in another thread about coming down for an extended period,,,so I gotta ask...WHAT'S THE HURRY? Why do you need to make it
to Mulege within ~36 hrs of arrival in your holiday country? There's so much you'll miss on the way as you hustle down Baja to start your vacation.
Why not start your holiday as soon as you leave your driveway back home,, relax,,stop and look, take pictures,,stop for fish taco's, don't
sweat it when there's a 40 minute lineup at a checkpoint or a diversion or an accident from some gringo that had the expectation to make miles that
day! As you drive by you can think....'mann,that coulda been me'!
