The "hotel" mentioned was Ignacio Springs and that it was evacuated ... is what I got from that link. Hope the place is okay!!

BN jungle drums went about an hour and 45 min. from the thread start.

That is pretty good.

First I read about it was on Facebook.

The road into town closed not the Highway. Ignacio Springs closed as a precaution is all. palms on fire again.

BajaBlanca - 3-3-2016 at 07:22 PM

Boy, sure hope everything is OK!

mulegemichael - 3-3-2016 at 09:51 PM

sheesh!...terri and gary have seen their load of grief over the past couple of years...take care, amigos.

BajaBlanca - 3-4-2016 at 01:03 PM

I hear thru the grapevine that only date palms burned -can anyone confirm? especially any news about the yurts / terry and gary would be appreciated as they are not answering their cell phone.

There is info and pictures over on Talk Baja.

We were guests at Ignacio Springs last night. The fire occurred the previous afternoon directly across the lagoon from the resort in the palm trees. Two yurts were damaged and the front of someone's rental car has a melted bumper and headlights. Apparently it was all hands on deck getting the fire out. They had a portable pump in the lagoon and lots of fire hose still on the ground. We enjoyed our overnight stay...first time there. Terri is doing well. We look forward to resting there again.

baja Steve - 3-5-2016 at 10:51 PM

They had big winds there today and the fire took off again. Haven t heard how much

WideAngleWandering - 3-6-2016 at 06:59 PM

We were just at Ignacio Springs. They are doing well and expect the fire to be under control but they did say there was the possibility of another evacuation tonight if the flames come back. They give a lot of credit to the fire department.

ElCap - 3-6-2016 at 07:01 PM

As often happens with palm fires, it flared back up yesterday when folks thought it was out. Heard a report that two more yurts at Ignacio Springs were damaged, and the the fire burned the carrizo along the river all the way down to the ojo de agua. Big bummer.

WideAngleWandering - 3-6-2016 at 07:04 PM

Oh and the scuttlebutt is that this may be arson committed by the local pyromaniac :(

rts551 - 3-7-2016 at 07:35 AM

News said it wass started by someone burning trash.

I hope it is completely out! Unfortunately, those palm fires in San Ignacio are not that uncommon! I sure hope things are well at Terry and Gary's place
