If you're in the neighborhood of the Antelope Valley in spring, stop by and visit the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve - a California State Park. All these photos were taken just outside the actual park (apparently poppies
aren't smart enough to stay within the fence line).woody with a view - 4-11-2016 at 12:46 PM
The Palmdale region of Antelope Valley is mostly devoid of color, flowers or otherwise.
Other than Jasmine, mango and roses none of my plants have bloomed yet....BajaBlanca - 4-11-2016 at 01:08 PM
I have never heard of antelope valley - those poppies and the other flowers are really spectacular.StuckSucks - 4-11-2016 at 03:43 PM
I took this a couple weeks ago near Ridgecrest, CA. The desert was carpeted with tiny yellow flowers (I think that is the botanical name).

oh Bob, so inspirational! Every year I look forward to seeing your garden.
In the neighborhood, but not exactly. This is on the Trona cut-off, Spangler Hills, a little south of the Wagon Wheel Staging Area.durrelllrobert - 4-13-2016 at 09:57 AM
what a beautiful orchid cactus - I have one that has never bloomed: do you have this one in part sun? full sun? how often do you water it?
and please post away ALL the flowers you have.
I have 6 of them, all in pots with full sun and they get watered briefly every two weeks. The biggest one that is just starting to bud out looks like
it will have around 30-40 flowers. Will post pic when that happens.

Very nice! Alls I gots to adds is some Rain Lilly's, Mangos, Peaches and the winter garden Swiss Chard, Collard Greens and Mixed Lettuce's.
All of the greens come out May 1st. Roto-til some manures in and the summer planting season begins!

Looks good Woody. How did your mango make out?
My lime tree had a thousand flowers and only set a few fruit this time.
I never saw a single bee or hummingbird. Usually it is covered with them for a month. Maybe in May.wessongroup - 4-16-2016 at 05:46 PM

Thanks to everyone. What a treat with my Sunday morning coffee! woody with a view - 4-18-2016 at 11:21 AM
Steve, there are a couple dozen pea sized mangos on the tree. The rest of the flowers have dried up and died. At what size should I sacrifice 1/2 of
them so the rest might live and grow large?
Funny thing is one of my peach trees went off last year and this year is taking a rest. Only a few. The other is a late summer variety which hasn't
ever been a good producer.msteve1014 - 4-18-2016 at 01:04 PM
I lose a lot of small fruit to the wind, so I wait longer than most people to thin things out. Grape size may be fine.BajaBlanca - 4-18-2016 at 02:23 PM
