If you're in the neighborhood of the Antelope Valley in spring, stop by and visit the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve - a California State Park. All these photos were taken just outside the actual park (apparently poppies aren't smart enough to stay within the fence line).

The Palmdale region of Antelope Valley is mostly devoid of color, flowers or otherwise.

Other than Jasmine, mango and roses none of my plants have bloomed yet....

I took this a couple weeks ago near Ridgecrest, CA. The desert was carpeted with tiny yellow flowers (I think that is the botanical name).

In the neighborhood, but not exactly. This is on the Trona cut-off, Spangler Hills, a little south of the Wagon Wheel Staging Area.

what a beautiful orchid cactus - I have one that has never bloomed: do you have this one in part sun? full sun? how often do you water it?

and please post away ALL the flowers you have.

I have 6 of them, all in pots with full sun and they get watered briefly every two weeks. The biggest one that is just starting to bud out looks like it will have around 30-40 flowers. Will post pic when that happens.
