Baja Coast To Coast Cycling Adventure

BajaGeoff - 6-30-2016 at 04:48 PM

Our friends James and Sean recently took on a sizable challenge....cycling coast to coast from Cuatro Casas to San Felipe in three days. It sounds fairly reasonable until you know the route:

Day 1 - Cuatro Casas to the to San Pedro de Martir Observatory, then back down to Rancho Meling

Day 2 - Rancho Meling to Mike's Sky Ranch via Rancho Coyote

Day 3 - Mike's Sky Ranch road to Highway 3, then pavement to the top of Laguna Diablo and down the lakebed through Morelia Junction to San Felipe.

Here is the video....enjoy!

Wow! That sounds impossible to me.

Check the video...it already happened!

They did it...but it wasn't easy.

I just finished watching the video. Incredible. Great video too.

Quite a feat and an Adventure with a capital A!

Thanks for sharing.

Viva adventure. What an awesome trip.

That's a beautifully done video.

My son is an avid bicycle adventure junkie, he has even ridden on glaciers! I have a standing offer to drive a support vehicle for him and his friends if they ever decide to have a go at Baja.

I will send this to him right now, thanks for posting this!

I can't watch the video, just thinkng about it tires me out! That is a crazy challenging ride.

Thanks everyone! It was a really fun project to work on.

Is it really a BIG adventure when you have vehicles following you? Seems like a really safe endurance ride. Nice video though.

BigBearRider - 7-1-2016 at 03:23 PM

Yep. Great video.

This old couch potato loves this stuff!! Great ride and vid!
I remember going up that mountain in my van and it barely made it!!
At least I can relate to fish tacos and beer though!!!

The main reason I would like to offer some vehicle support, is to keep my son off of Highway 1, and parts of 3. Some of the trails possible for him, would probably involve me meeting him at the other end. That still leaves plenty of challenge!

Coming down the mountain would be great, going up not so much.

BajaBlanca - 7-2-2016 at 07:02 AM

What a GREAT video! wow. just amazing. the videographer did an excellent job.

I think having a support vehicle is just plain smart. Doesn't detract at all from the accomplishment.

Way to go!

It certainly is a way to stay in shape. What an adventure to do something this.

Marc - 7-4-2016 at 07:49 AM

As an old bike racer I can appreciate what they did. Amazing!

TMW - 7-4-2016 at 08:45 AM

The Baja ride will certainly be a major undertaking. With more and more areas being fenced off and gates locked they may have to ride more pavement than expected. I do wish them good luck, it will be an adventure.

Wow!

Bajahowodd - 7-9-2016 at 04:23 PM

Dunno if it's a reward after a great trip, ending up in San Felipe. Not on my list of where I want to be in Baja. Just me, and I'm sure I will p-off a number of folks.

BajaGeoff - 7-12-2016 at 02:57 PM

This trip was definitely about the journey itself...not necessarily the destination. The real reward for these guys was fish tacos and cold beer!
