Will try to do some thoughts and attach photos of a trip from end of December to few days in January.
After camping up and down Baja since the 70's thought it was time to take it easy for once..
So a Baja Nomad inspired trip we did. After some health issues and work schedule changes..the family could not make it so my fishing buddy agreed to
take their spot..
Took the "3" from Ensenada to San Felipe..Tacos at "El Guero" on the Malecon with some beers.
Third photo is the Windmill from my Grandfathers Orchard in Riverside, CA that went to "La Roca" camp below San Felipe in the late 1970's..Still
there.

I can almost taste those tacos!BajaBlanca - 1-22-2018 at 01:32 PM
How awesome that the windmill is still there! I can taste the tacos too ... yummmm
keep the thoughts and photos coming!rancho guillermo - 1-22-2018 at 01:58 PM
So after San Felipe...Beers at Cowpatty..check on a friends Casa at La Costilla...and then drive South to Alfonsinas for drinks, Nap and sleep over
before the next day..(all the road conditions were good and Military Checkpoints friendly...
rancho guillermo - 1-22-2018 at 02:01 PM
Thru the rocks and Cactus to Guerrero Negro, Meal with Scallops, Fish, Lobster and Shrimp with Beers, check out the cool Museum and Thru another
Checkpoint..
rancho guillermo - 1-22-2018 at 02:03 PM
Forgot to mention...Meal was at Mario's just outside of townTMW - 1-22-2018 at 02:26 PM
I'm going to have to stop there on my next trip. I've been hearing great things about their food and from your pictures I've been missing out.
ThanksDavid K - 1-22-2018 at 02:29 PM
Thank you!rancho guillermo - 1-22-2018 at 03:00 PM
so we get into Mulege and Check into the Hacienda. Go to El Candil for eats and drinks and then over to Los Equipales for night caps..Photo with the
best Mustache in town and ask if we can put our drinks on Roger's tab. He says Roger will always have a tab here but we cannot use it..(damn) Then
back to Hacienda, bring our own bottle in (they were not serving booze..not sure why.) and try to convince Alma that there really are cool signatures
behind this paint and can we put the room charges on Rogers tab..(no again)
rancho guillermo - 1-22-2018 at 03:09 PM
so now it is Saturday, up early for coffee at Magos, Sauls for supplies (another Mateo carved sign) and of course what would Saturday be without
Tacos...This got us thinking..we should have a business in Mulege..looking for the right location..Opportunity of a lifetime...
rancho guillermo - 1-22-2018 at 04:45 PM
Time for another drink..so off to the Serenidad...no pig roast tonight as they are preparing for New Years Eve tomorrow...
Hanging with the MAN..Mr. Johnson..Hey Don...We are good friends of Roger's...can we use his tab??
NO...oh man..
rancho guillermo - 1-22-2018 at 04:55 PM

last photos
rancho guillermo - 1-22-2018 at 05:51 PM
so like we needed to eat again...Los Pelatos had great tacos..
If you havent notice alot of drinking eating and photos..A Pompano themed trip..so where do you stay on a trip like this.."Graceland "baby..
One kind of beer allowed in the Casa..Pacifico
And I dont like the place at all...make some c-cktails and can actually feel Roger's presence in the house..(would say something about feeling
co-pilot but would not be nice)
Estrella Del Mar for New Years..Stopped to just have a beer and then go clean up and returnndidnt work that way..Man we were way under dressed.Cecilia
and Coco and staff were great. Fast Freddy and Slow learners just has good as I had been told. And no ..you cannot use Rogers tab...New friends back
at the house for night cap ..Alot of fun people we met at the bar..everyone down here really great people.
great place
rancho guillermo - 1-22-2018 at 05:59 PM
Happy New Year as I try to do justice to a famous photo. Have some coffee and just have a day in Paradise.
Thanks for everyone's patience with my report, and Thanks to all the Nomads who keep telling the stories and remembering the tales and letting people
dream. We did fish..Nice Snappers and Trigger fish from the panga..

Was it on the wall in La Hacienda where lots of famous people had written their names, only to be painted over by a gringo owner?rancho guillermo - 1-22-2018 at 08:02 PM
I believe it was the correct wall...would need some people that might know exactly which wall...this was at the end of the bar...wish the signatures
were still there.DanO - 1-22-2018 at 11:52 PM
Great trip report very much in the style of Pompano. Well played. Thanks.Paco Facullo - 1-23-2018 at 01:02 AM

May I ask: whom did you use for a photo-hosting site?
photo site
rancho guillermo - 1-23-2018 at 09:44 AM
Udo, see U2U...
And to be honest, not sure how to even turn on my computer sometimes so consider the answer with a grain of salt.mcnut - 1-23-2018 at 10:36 AM
May I ask: whom did you use for a photo-hosting site?
Photo files not over 250 kb can be hosted here on Nomad (use the Attachment "Choose File" button below where you type a post/reply here).
It looks like that is what rancho guillermo did?
For others with bigger file size images, the site https://postimages.org/ is really good and easy! Just select the 800x600 size (or smaller) to fit on Nomad. You will get several types of links,
depending on where you want to share your photos! The "Hotlink for forums" is what you want to paste here.
Any images wider than 800 will stretch the entire page and Doug then has to manually resize the images. HELP Doug out, and be a responsible image

Is the picture of the taco place from Danny's Asadero?
rancho guillermo - 1-23-2018 at 02:02 PM
BigBear that is Dany's. There was a crowd but cool people and great tacos...David K - 1-23-2018 at 02:13 PM
Great "Baja Feeling" style of photos! BigBearRider - 1-23-2018 at 04:08 PM
Here's a link to a story by Pompano, referencing Aaron Funk painting over the signatures on the wall at La Hacienda. I remembered the word "demons"
being used in the description:
Thanks BigBear..that story/link also refers to his friend Mateo/Matt who did the wood cravings.. To bad Photobucket no longer let's us see the
photos..

Long Live Baja.
Oh, did you miss the exciting news from Jaybo?
All of Roger's and everyone else's Photobucket pics are again viewable if you use Chrome or Firefox to browse: http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=88714
This only need apply to those with free Photobucket accounts, if you pay for the next level up, then your photos are viewable on forums.tiotomasbcs - 1-23-2018 at 04:53 PM
Your storytelling is fantastic.. all those things old Nomads enjoy; tacos, beers, and smiling faces! Your relation with Pompano is apparent..please
do tell?! Mulege is such a special place past and present! I have lived 20yrs in Baja Sur and always need my mid Peninsula fix, esp Mulege. The
beaches and mountains are Puro Baja antes y presente. I would love to rent Coyote Graceland for a weekend. Contact? Lots of great people living
their dream including Willy, Mulegena, and others including, of course, local generaciones de Mulegenos!! Buena Onda, Amigo. Tio rancho guillermo - 1-24-2018 at 10:18 AM
David K. thanks for the heads up on the info for getting the old photos again..that means alot. And to Tio, thank you for the nice words. My
connection to Pompano is purely thru the internet. Not just Roger but alot of the Nomads I follow because Baja is that kind of place. You guys have
the gift of opening peoples ideas to new adventures in Baja or trying new things as I did by going "soft" traveling instead of camping. Still like to
do both but the House was pretty damn cool. Info on the "Coyote" Casa I found on the Nomad site somewhere. The new owner was a friend of Pompanos
and is very easy and nice to deal with..
So I guess the next adventure would be to also follow up on some other Nomad Places...let's see maybe Blanca, Shari, Russ, Cliff and all the other
great people who I don't have time to mention. Sorry I did not get to "Playa Frambres LightHouse Resort" or many other locations, but there is
hopefully other trips in the future...who knows maybe I go to North Dakota and try to put drinks on Rogers tab in that State and maybe even meet the
legend..but all you guys are legends to me..
Keep it up.AKgringo - 1-24-2018 at 10:44 AM
I have enjoyed your Pompano flavored report! Roger is someone I never met, but wanted to. I have only been using this forum for a couple of years,
but he was actively posting then, and I miss his presence.
By the way, I hate to be snarkey, but your co-pilot slot could use an upgrade!rancho guillermo - 1-24-2018 at 10:50 AM
AK..I am surprised the Co-pilot comments didn't come sooner, especially since it was a Pompano inspired trip. As I mentioned early in the trip
report, due to some health issues my true co-pilot could not make it..so fishing buddy was next choice (that my wife would approve) and the only one
that could go on short notice...
But you are correct...No where near the ones Pompano shared his adventures with..Good drinking partner though...
