My heart is broken

BajaBlanca - 7-20-2021 at 12:31 AM

You might remember our scholarship student Javier. He was my student in middle school, he was in our scholarship program, graduated in engineering and got a job right away. He did not come to the 2020 summer gathering because he was working in La Paz.

He passed away yesterday. My heart is broken. Covid has hit La Bocana like a tidal wave.

Javier and I in 2019

Javier on the right, on the day he found out he was accepted into college.

Here he is working in La Paz - a job he was so enjoying.

I am going to miss this kid! He was a one of a kind guy, a good friend to all his buddies. He could have been a poster boy for the scholarship project! He hit all the goals and more.

La Bocana grieves. I grieve.

Very sorry to hear that. He was too young.

pauldavidmena - 7-20-2021 at 06:58 AM

So sorry, Blanca. This has been such a cruel, unrelenting disease.

:(:(:(

BajaBlanca - 7-20-2021 at 07:34 AM

Thanks everyone. I am wavering between coping and falling apart.

So young, so talented. What devastation for all his family and friends!
Descansar en Paz.

baja Steve - 7-20-2021 at 07:59 AM

Blanca Along with my team we will being praying for you and your town

AKgringo - 7-20-2021 at 08:13 AM

So sad to lose a young man that had done everything right on his way to becoming an honorable, productive member of society!

Blanca, is the tidal wave that you say has hit La Bocana a local outbreak of the virus, or loss of community family members living elsewhere?

Ateo - 7-20-2021 at 08:17 AM

I have no words. May you be surrounded by your loved ones and find some comfort and peace.
Jon

So very sorry for your loss... deep breaths... hang in there BajaBlanca.

Blanca,
Our hearts resonate with your loss.

BajaBlanca - 7-20-2021 at 11:56 AM

La Bocana is being hit by corona. Many old and young are sick.

My neighbor's cousin had 3 kids in the hospital with covid. One died today.

Thank you all of you for your words of condolences. It really does help. I have to pretend to be OK for my granddaughter but if I could just take a break from Life right now. I would. I feel as if a vital part of my soul is missing. I sometimes am more involved with the kids than their own parents since none of them have gone to college...it is up to me to help the college students work thru issues. Javier was one of the easy ones.

The irony is that I got mad at the parents, really mad, when they insisted Javier return from La Paz to visit them for xmas a year ago. I thought THEY might die. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it might be Javier.

Thanks again.

TMW - 7-20-2021 at 12:08 PM

So sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to you and his family.

jureal - 7-20-2021 at 12:33 PM

DEP. My condolences to you and Javier's family. I did not think that the covid was so prevalent in your town. I was going to visit last week but instead just went as far as Sn Quintin and stayed pretty much isolated. What vaccine did he receive? What vaccine is being administered in La Bocana. I heard that it was bad in Cabo so I declined a visit there. Most of the people that I spoke to in Sn Quintin were vaccinated. Some with the Pfizer.

LancairDriver - 7-20-2021 at 01:30 PM

Very sorry to hear this. A promising young man just starting his career taken way to early.

Bajazly - 7-20-2021 at 03:21 PM

So sorry for your and Javiers family loss Blanca.

Skipjack Joe - 7-20-2021 at 06:16 PM

That really sucks.

There are people in Asuncion who have been ridiculing the vaccination effort. I hope they read this. We're not that far away.

BajaMama - 7-21-2021 at 05:16 AM

I'm so sorry to hear this, Blanca. A crushing loss to you and to his family.

David K - 7-21-2021 at 06:06 AM

How sad, Blanca. Sorry for the loss of your student and others harmed by this horrible plague.

shari - 7-21-2021 at 09:18 AM

So sorry for the tragic loss in your village Blanca...what is the world coming to?

pacificobob - 7-21-2021 at 11:24 AM

Blanca, i am sorry for your loss.
tragic in the extreme.

p.s. any comments jizzy? how about you gnuboi?

BajaBlanca - 7-22-2021 at 06:04 AM

Thanks again for your kind words, everyone. I am SURE Bahia Asuncion is reeling with these deaths. All the villages are one big extended family.

It gets easier each day as I cope with the new reality.

STAY AWAY FROM LA BOCANA. I am not kidding. None of the teens or kids have been vaccinated yet, their turn is just beginning.

The other lady who died was one of my middle now finishing high school student's mom. Probably 17 years old. Tragic.

Jureal - there was zero covid for 10 months or so and now it is out of control. The variant? I have no idea.

Please get vaccinated as soon as you can. Let's protect each other.

monoloco - 7-22-2021 at 08:44 AM

That's important to know. Javier was not vaccinated.

We've had the pandemic for so long now that the vulnerable likely stopped wearing masks. It's not on the boy either because we've been told by experts that the young are not vulnerable. If you're young, according to JZ, party on.

That's not exactly what I said, but this isn't the thread for this.

There are still moments when I do not and can not accept this. Just started organizing tuitions and of course, his name is on my roster as he would have been starting his last semester which is basically getting graded on internship and some final classes. He had already been hired for when he finished up.

Focusing on the positive: Alondra is interning in the La Bocana cooperative plant, she finishes in March. She has also been offered a permanent position! Perfect, perfect for her since her Dad passed away a couple years ago. She lives with her Mom and they are very close.

This kid is set for life! Paid vacations, paid holidays, and a great retirement plan.

This lady is going to focus on the positive!
