RHD vehicle legal in Baja?
Anyone know if it is 1. legal to drive a RHD vehicle in the baja 2. possible to import such a vehicle to Baja? I am thinking of getting a RHD toyota
landcruiser diesel from Japan, and need to be able to drive it to anfd from the baja from here in Canada.

Bruce I know you can't import a diesel vehicle in Baja but I know of two that were, don't know how. Possibly they lied said they were gas.

I heard last weekend that you could import new diesel trucks...new rule

Some of the customs brokers still have unused permits from when importation of diesel's was allowed. A little back dating, cross over undetected and

So I can't import it. Can you drive an RHD vehicle legally there - leaving aside the starnge looks I'll get at the checkpoints! Can't find any info
on this.

I've seen a few down here.
And sure don't see why not as long as they are registered properly. Otherwise it just may cost you a 300 peso donation, at least in La Paz.

Back in the 70's I kept an old Jeep RHD Post Office truck in Mulege for a couple of years. It was one of those 60's stubby box vans with a little 4
banger engine, cruised at all of 50 mph. It was set up so you could drive standing up with the sliding driver's door open and just a strap across the
door to keep the driver from falling out. I bought it at a USPS auction in Minneapolis and drove it to Mulege by way of Seattle, one of those things
that made sense at the time.

It is legal to have, register and drive a RHD vehicle in Mexico... diesel or gas. No convertibles can be imported, however.

We've made a couple convertibles
down here, using my sawzall. One cadillac in particular became quite famous in these parts after the remodel!
