US notary

Anyone know of a US notary in san lucas or la paz? The US consulate is unresponsive to phone calls or email. This type of document cannot be done with an online notary. Thanks in advance.

Illegal for a US notary to operate in Mexico. If they do they loose the license.
Travel to the US is required

Notarial and Authentication Services at U.S. Embassies and Consulates
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/replace-certify-d...

They say something about the Hague Convention...you can read it and figure it out.

Looks like you might need to make an appointment, hopefully you can go there in person to do that, since you haven't been able to get any response from them.

Yes, notary services are a available at the consulate....one day per month.
As mentioned above, the consulate is not answering the phone, or responding to email.

Consulate... where?

There used to be one in CSL, which was really helpful. I haven't heard of their being active for years, anybody know if they're still around?

Carretera Transpeninsular Km 27.5 Local B221, Palmilla, 23406 San José del Cabo, B.C.S., Mexico

I've used their notary a few years ago...... maybe they closed. I'll drive over there in the next few days.

That's interesting. I'm thinking about using an online notary for a US real estate transaction while in Mexico. Is your document real estate related?

No.estate planning documents. I've used DocuSign to purchase and sell real estate from home quite a few times. Works well.

Just got home from san Lucas, the consulate seemed shuttered. Tuesday at noon.
There was a sign on the door with a phone number (no answer) to call if you have been arrested, or a victim of a crime.....very handy. Apparently nothing is too good for Americans abroad.

Cabo consular agency is listed on state dept website. may have closed (i think it was only an agency, never a consulate). "reviews" on google indicate it is closed or only responds for emergencies. https://mx.usembassy.gov/

Can it be done via video? I had the same need and used Mailbox Express in Ensenada. They set up a video call with a notary in Las Vegas and so I had both paperwork and a video record.

Unfortunately, the law practice that prepared the documents have assured me it can't be done remotely. I've done video notary to transfer automobile ownership...worked great.
