You have any reference about that change in law?

As far as I know, it would require a constitutional amendment, which it seems like we would have heard about... :?:

americans can own land without a fidi if not within the resricted zone. I bought property in SMA 23 years ago before getting citizenship.

JZ stop putting your foot in your :?:

You should try living full-time in Mexico before putting that garbage out.

You seem to enjoy it in Baja. But boy my neighbors here would like to clear somethings up for you.

Would love to have you come for a visit it's always good to hear from the Locals how they feel. Not just the Internet

Bro, do a Google search instead of putting your head in the sand. This just happened majorly in Mexico City. I didn't say it happened where you live.

I've owned property on the mainland for years and have many local MX friends. Yeah, no one is saying that in Sonora, yet.

It probably is fake news that there's been some change in the law regarding this issue. (Foreigners have been able to hold title to land outside of the protected zone for many years.)

As far as Baja is concerned, there are few places on the peninsula that fall over 50km from the coast (and few foreigners would want to buy there), so in effect, it's all fideicomiso territory.
