If you have the VIN# go to the CA DMV web site and they have a section for vehicle history.

this is the problem with California is they only care about making money and not about helping there people to reduce crime they wont tell you if your car is stolen unless you pay 25 dollars.I cant pay it from Mexico.

they are also one of the few states that wont post a list of sex offenders on the web. they are real careful to protect the perverts but to heck with the children.

I would go to this automated email site: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/online/email/esw_vr.html
and send them an email that says something like, 'I live in Baja, Mexico, and believe this automobile VIN: 1234567???? may be stolen, if you want more specific location info, email me. It is worth a shot but more than likely they will think you are trying to get background information for free or they may let you know it is stolen but will not try an recover it due to the expense involved, who knows.

And was there ever a doubt where most of the work of the ACLU is done?
