Hey Doug, How about a (how to get an) FM3 topic?

Over the years, there have been many postings about the often irritating and frustrating vagaries of trying to get legal residency (FM3) depending on location, and these posts are widely scattered amongst the other various forums.

IMHO, it seems to be a topic whose time has come, given the many Nomads who are thinking about, dreaming about, preparing for or attempting set up a new life in Baja.

Haven't you noticed that most of the varying responses are from people who have actually gone through the process and that was their particular experience ? That says more about the actual application of Mexican Law than anything else. A forum explaining "exactly" how the process "works" would be meaningless because it works differently from time to time and place to place. That is one of the more endearing aspects of the Mexican bureaucracy. It is a system of constant Flux.

I think that you misunderstand

my intent.

Yes, there is a wealth of information on the general discussion boards about the immigration requirements, but the information is very scattered.

I suggested creating a specific board for the subject because this subject is something that comes up on a frequent basis.

A separate board would serve the people who do not know a lot about searching archives, are interested in living in Mexico (Baja) and, in this case, they could easily access good information.
