Yeah, it's open on Sunday. Fish aren't religious.

When you're buying watch what you are given. Sometimes the stuff on top is MUCH better than the stuff underneath.

When I buy shrimp I make them dump them on a piece of butcher paper first. If they balk...I walk.

Not sure if the parking description is the same

as mine, but at the first light in town, be in the right lane. As you clear the intersection, there is parking that runs at a 30 degree angle to the road you are turning off. Take this road and park in there.

The othe description seems to indicate going past this turn, but there is rarely parking on that route and it is all parallel parking.

The alternative area is the intersection where the horse-drawn carriages start. Turn right there and park one block off the main drag and walk back.

I have found that the fish market really doesnt get going until about 7am and the taco stands slightly later. They will be there but the products just wont be set out. Definitely 7 days a week, though.

You guys are both correct, but the wife just informed me that the little side street with the street vendors is now closed. Best to use the movie theater parking, and walk over.

Shrimp, Dave? :O Oy gevalt! For shame!

Did you think you could get away with that because most of us goyim don't know about that one?

Personally, I never buy anything at the Mercado Negro in Ensenada. Those jugs of clorax aren't just for cleanup. If you just gotta, don't buy anything already filleted. Make sure you see the eyes and that they're clear, not cloudy. Don't let them give you anything you haven't personally inspected. And go early.

Thanks for the Sanborn's parking tip

The reason I have never discovered it is because I am almost always towing a boat or in a truck with a cabover camper.

But once every few years, we take the wife's car down and stay at the Isabel.

pulled into the parking structure at 7:30 am with no hassle. made a quick survey of the goods and decided on a kilo of shrimp-$10. a couple of 2 kilo huanchinango-$8. one 3.5 kilo sheepshead-$8.

in all, the selection was lacking in the tuna/albacore/dorado which i was looking for, but as for freshness and price it was worth the drive. spent 20-25 minutes in the border line. got back to OB by 11am and had a delicious shimp omelette.

BTW, do they ever have tuna/albacore/dorado?

Only when

they are being caught!:light:

Which should start in about 2 or 3 weeks when the water warms up. But, many of the pangueros don't like to troll, (uses too much gas) so that's why you see mostly bottom fish in the markets.
