Quien Sabe ??

I haven't seen a shark in the last ten years or know anyone who has hooked one in years. But ! That reminds me of a story.........

Back in the late 70s (June) we were staying at Playa Bonita just North of Ruben's in San Felipe. Swimming just offshore for hours. There was a Panga fishing about a hundred yards away just off the point. After our late day swim, we were relaxing on the beach drinking beer and the Panga came in. It was loaded to the gunwales with SHARKS. That gave us something to think about, although we went swimming again the next day.

Sharks are all fished out in the Cortez - just ask the fishermen . . .

Ive been diving just south of SF for about 12 years and have only seen one small shark under water. I have caught only two sharks. There are more sharks in california by far.

Hundreds of man eaters there!!!!

I lied.

We have been swimming in San Felipe (and nearby places too) for two years now...I still have both feet :lol: Never seen a shark there...except in my fish taco.

If you want sharks...go to Stinsen Beach, Ca. They rule there! Now...go swim and have fun. :cool:

I just had some thresher shark from Baja....made some great shark tacos.

From what I've read and heard, the shark population has been reduced dramatically over the years. Considering they are the top of the food chain, we should be concerned.

Once upon a time

in Baja Norte they were everywhere,having spent a great deal of time in the mid 60,s and 70,s I can assure you there was a very large population.
Right in downtown Puertecitos on the point we would put a couple of colemans right next to the water and chum a little at night and in no time it was a regular convention, some very large dudes would show up!!!!!
The Gonzaga area was full of Hammerheads,some super studs.
The shark fisherman have done a real job on them, one wonders what will come from it.

It's true, we have a lot of sharks here...and an attack now and then...but, you can swim here anytime you want...the hypothermia will get you before the shark can.

Here's some shark stuff that showed up in my inbox today;
