No..God No!...not a lawyer. Please do not let the ramblings of a few ranters limit your decision-making for you. I can assure you that posting anonymously on this board is not a criminal offense...although a few would seem to want to make it that way. Kind of like a few fanatics burning witches at the stake in New England.

Is that true that you have 6 months after each FM3 renewal?
Thanks

Can't you apply for your FM# status after you purchase a house. You don't have to have it prior to purchasing do you?

Anonymous advice

based on their one experience a few years ago seems a little questionable at best! Things do change down here. Occasionally!
I wasn't kidding about the Otay crossing. If the stuff is used, it shouldn't cost more than $50.00 to get it across legally. Save the free trip for when you want to bring down a lot of things!

I did not have an FM3 when I purchased my house but I did have a valid FMT. That was too many years ago to count as good information however.

Do be very careful about telling us where your house is.
We Nomads have been known to show up on your doorstep wearing sombreros with VIVA BAJA bumperstickers plastered all over our bodies. We will be leaving flaming tortillas all over your front yard.
The Anons will sneak in through your window and steal your undies.

For every border crossing my nay-sayer JR has made I have made 10...and I am being conservative to say the least. There is no way that Otay used-products taxes will be lower on a full-sized household of furniture. And my crossings are almost daily and up-to-date, as is my understanding and involvement in of importation laws, land and home ownership, fideiocomsios (bank trusts), Mexican corporation regulations, foreign-owned business and a host of other Mexico and other Latin-American activities. But you do what you have to do...I can only give you the benefit of my 40 years of experience in dealing with things in Baja and Mexico.

Are my posts that difficult to understand?

"I WOULD LIKE TO BRING INTO MEXICO SOME HOUSEHOLD GOODS IN A SMALL TRAILER SUCH AS COUCH, WASHER, BED, SHOVELS,TOOLS ETC."

I believe my reply began with "For that many items".
I am not naysaying and I think it's wonderful you spend so much time in the border lines getting all this knowledge.

Fact is though, with a few items like these, if you are a nice person, a small trailer shouldn't cost more than $50.00 to bring through.
Just an idea, not an argument.

I do not spend nearly the amount of time in the border line a what's his name. But, this method has worked for us on many occasions. We do it because we are poor.:light::lol:

If that's the case, Bruce, it must be like second hand smoke. I have difficulty hearing and I live about 25 feet above sea level.... but I do have friends in Colorado. :tumble:

Natlie Ann, Where in Colorado? We live there as well and my husband says his hearing if just a 'woman's voice' Ha! Ha! Actually, it is the range of women's voices. I still call it selective hearing. But, that will be solved with the new hearing aids. ;D I've had friends say the same about crossing the border...have a storage area close to the border and take small trailer loads at a time of your used items across. They never say a thing. Now, that's into Mexico. I just want to bring the entire house full over all at once and be done with it. So, I'm hopppping whoever said it would be tax free with proper documents is the winner here.:bounce: So, we can be the winners. :light:

Awesome, Steam Boat Springs! We spent a summer and fall there in 90 I think. Rented a condo while my husband worked at building the jail. We had a sweet set up. Right in the middle of the balloon races, car races...sitting up on the hill. We paid $300.00 a month which encluded the cable, phone and even a greeting bottle of wine. We were the only two there most of the time. My husband used the dumpster cover for his garage :D Had the pool and hot tub all to ourselves during the week. We were offered an extended stay by the owner but we said no thanks and headed back to Costa Rica.

Thanks for the encouraging words on transport of goods. :D

Welcome to La Paz, you picked a great place to live, if you don't mind all the gringo enclaves.

No, I made it up.;D

You can only do it once but if you don't make it the first time around you get another chance after renewal.
