The road north to Rancho Tepi (racers call this the Simpson Ranch road) is reaced in 2:09 hrs., Mile 43.4, 31-05.18', 115-39.72', elev. 4,570' (the
highest of the trip's waypoints).
The next 3.2 miles is the roughest as the road drops steeply down the mountain to Mike's Sky Rancho, in the San Rafael River valley. The old horse
stables can be seen soon, off in the distance, which are across the river form Mike's motel & cantina.
