Boat quiz photo...What am I?

Si como no..why not a boat photo quiz?

Can you name this type of boat and what this one is used for..as in what endeavor?

( Hint: I have only seen one boat of this general type in Baja...in the shallows of the mangroves at Mag Bay. But this photo was not taken in Baja.)

Winner gets a cold one at the Reef, Jungle, Serinadad, Rays or wherever you can chase Pompano down.

Is that boat used for cutting eel grass and other vegetation in lakes and water ways?

It's a swamp skiff with frog-catcher attachment in front.
Isn't it obvious ?

OK, how about a fish harvester for use in a fish farm or stocked pond ??

If there were palm trees I'd say coconut picker upper.
(Land mines for fast boaters or water skiers)

Nor coconuts, huh ?

How about for picking up or harvesting;

Beaver ?
Fresh-water eel ?
Great northwest bathing beautys ?
Golf ball?
Beer bottles ?
Cans ?
You can't get that many duck or geese, can you ?
The skeeters aren't that big up there, are they ?

these guys motor and paddle these boats up the submerged wild rice and swing a curved paddle...very sharp edged and cut the stems underwater and swing the whole mess up onto that platform you see in front...then they use the same paddles flat side to beat the beegee-bers out of the wild rice grains and the heads fall into the bottom of the boat. Then they deftly flip the stalks over the side and start all over. Very lucrative business. Mucho pesos a pound.

p.s. This photo is from Amish Lake on the Sask/Manitoba boundary about a 1000 miles north of the US border.

Congrats, Diver...you got one coming!!

I had a girl-friend from Minnesota way back when; great wild rice she had !

Better look over your shoulder in January and February.
I'll be lurking thereabouts and may snag you to collect that beer !
(Hint; beware a 14' Lund with camo paint and Washington tags.)

frigatebird...I saw an airboat similar to this one used for fishing robalo under the falling edges of the mangroves in the shallowest parts of Mag bay. We were in a panga and couldn't get the engine in that close with churning mud. Neat gadget...I have driven them on the water and on the ice....a real blast, so to speak!

Diver...I will remember any Lund boat I see...VERY familiar with those great boats! Salute in advance.

Darn,
I was going to guess that it had something to do with the harvesting of Mermaids...fun thread, thanks.

Nice goin' Pompano! It sure looks like it's for sumpin' bit larger than wild rice. So are the lakes self-regenerating or are they replanted.

Ok, what does "White Fang" or "Call of the Wild" have to do with the wild rice. Refresh my synapse please.

I believe Pompamo is refuring to the east-ward bent in Mr London's proclivities - kinda like that scene from a Peter Seller's movie where he is dining in a chinese cafe and opens the fortune cookie and reads: "Help - I'm being held captured in a chinese nookie factory".
