But isn't Portland further away from Los Angeles and Loreto than Eugene? I can imagine that the Portland fare might be a touch higher.

yes portland is further away from loreto but i connect in portland or seattle first. and then go to loreto via lax. in the past it was cheeper to drive to portland to fly out and save about $100. but it ate it up in parking in a few days, so i would stay at a motel in portland that let me leave my car there while i was gone and still saved money. now im 15 minuites from the airport in eugene and 10 minuites in loreto prety handy anyway check it out on alaska have a good one jerry

Alaska/Horizon has a new pricing system, but only on domestic flights. So try buying and combining two tickets, LAX to Loreto, and wherever to LAX.

The LAX to Loreto flight is only $222. Then you can do a separate search for your flight to LAX and select a "bargain" fare (example: Kalispell to LAX $201). Eugene to LAX is even cheaper. If I search Kalispell to Loreto, it's $200 more total fare than buying the tickets separately.

But the AlaskaAir Loreto to LA flight still leaves in the afternoon, forcing either an overnight stay somewhere or using Aero California.

"$468.84 round trip not bad."

Well, I wouldn't exactly call that good. I fly most times from LA to Hermosillo, Sonora for about $300.

$468 is maybe ok for one person, but if you are talking about a couple or a couple and kids, wow, that starts to add up fast. Definetly prohibitive of visiting that new casa frequently!

They have to get the prices down if they want more volume.

jz im coming from about 800 miles north of los angelas and it and i have paid a lot more it was up to $548 befor the special and even thats cheeper then driving 1800 miles each way. insurance, time on the road, cost per mile to drive a rig, fuel, oil changes, plus the fact that i dont want to loose a week getting there and back
oh might look into kids fly free on alaska?? just saw it in passing have a good one jerry
