Correction to Bahia de Los Angles Pemex Hours

To correct my post about the hours for the Pemex they are: 7 AM to 2 PM and 4 PM to 9 PM. Local Mexican time.

That is if they decide to open , have gas etc.

The new Pemex almost directly across from it is proceeding rapidly and looks like it will open next year.

Drum gas is $3.00 US a gallon at most the usual spots, the Pemex at Cativina is still closed and drum gas is available directly across the highway form the Pemex.

There was a repair truck with a crane from Mexicalli at the Pemex in Puertecitos working on sunday afternoon as I passed coming back from down south, do not know what this means.

All the operating Pemex's have huge stickers on their pumps now, near the nozzzle means tax is paid, directly over the nozzle , no tax ( no gas), I mean huge, must be 18" X 24". I predict this will not last long!

Thanks Max... worth noting is this part: "That is if they decide to open , have gas etc"

If you see it open, then get the gas at that moment! They were closed at 8 pm when we were passing there a couple weeks ago... We topped the tank on the way in.

Hola McGyver,

What is implied by the "Tax is Paid" signs? Are we now paying a tax on top of the pump price? or is there a new tax that has been added? or is it an old tax that Pemex is now telling it's customers that they have paid? or Will have to pay?

Thanks

Taxes

BEDMAN, From what I could get it is a tax on each pump a station uses, I don't think it affects the price we pay. Maybe BajaCatus would be a better person to explain this ? How about it BajaCatus? I bought $60 worth of your gas this past weekend!

'BajaCactus' (Antonio) called me yesterday from El Rosario... He was on the roof installing his Internet satellite dish and needed the GPS waypoint for the motel to help aim the thing. So, he may be checking Nomad out at high speed from Rosario, before returning to Tijuana!

The description of the tax, sounds like it is between the government and the station owner..., who may have failed to pay the pump tax?

Tax...

There are NO NEW TAXES on the gasoline in Mexico...same as usual.

The price the consumer gets already includes all the mexican taxes (IVA, ISPT, etc).

Sometimes, gas station owners decide to inform customers that the price includes taxes..."IVA incluido"...maybe this is what mcgyver saw?

The high speed internet is now working at BajaCactus... not hook to any rooms or wireless signal yet though...Thanks David.

I am going back there maybe in 10 days and will install some equipment, so everyone passing thru there maybe able to use the signal either at our new rooms or thru a wireless signal (Internet HotSpot).

Hotspots & Taxes!

BajaCatus
Good show on the satellite internet hotspot, it will be apprecieated for sure by many of us that run that area. You got good reports on your hotel rooms from some of your last weeks customers, they had nothing but "Great rooms" to say around the camp fire at Las Animas about your place.
The goverment stickers are on pumps at Gonzaga and Bahia De Los Angles and are actually placed over the nozzles on some pumps and close by on others, the are big 18' X 24' decals with all kinds of official statements on them. My reading of spanish leaves a lot to be disired, about like my spelling of english! The stickers were on pumps in San Felipe last week but are now torn off, Baja 1000 perhaps?

Mc and Antonio,
Thanks for the clarification. I was getting all tensed up thinking Baja was going to match USA prices.

Side note for you Antonio. I saw and read an article in the LA Times. One of their writers made a trip to Guerro Negro on a whale watching trip. She passed through El Rosario and had to turn around near Catavina due to flooding in the Vados. She returned to Baja Cactus Motel and stayed the night. Gave an Excellennt review of your place.

For any other Nomad reading this. I visited with Antonio a few weeks back and had the 50 cent tour. It's a CLASS ACT. His mattresses alone are worth the price of admission. I know a little about Mattresses, trust me.

I give Antonio, The Baja Cactus Motel and the El Rosario Pemex a Five Cardon Rating.
YYYYY <---Cardons

As always

That's funny Steve (the 5 cardon rating)!

As I have said before, for a motel in the Baja desert, this place is unreal! Nobody had to take a bribe to say nice things about Antonio and Baja Cactus, either! As hard as Antonio works to make this an outstanding motel and gas station, he deserves the praises!
