Tunaeater Conquers Baja
Our very own Tunaeater finished the Baja 1000 in 4th place. After 29:53:03 hours of every type of the worse nature and man could throw at them the 96A
team finished with an average speed of 23.718 mph. Five of the 10 starters in class failed to finish. This was considered by many Baja veterans to be
one of the most difficult races ever. With Thorphy Trucks and class one monsters bearing down his backside Paul made it thru his section needing only
a little water. He even spend a little time trying to upright Robby Gordon's truck, to no avail. Getting knocked down is what happens to trucks when
they try to mess with our guy, every pun intended.

Laredo TX is a long way to come from for the Baja race but I'm glad you did. I've been going to the Score races in Baja since 1987 and I've never seen
so many people as I did in Ensenada last Thursday. There was a cruise ship in port too. I think a lot had to do with the movie "Dust to Glory". But
there were also a lot of teams, 350 give or take, and that means a lot of chase teams and driver/riders and co-driver/co-riders. The weather was
great. Interesting that on Thursday on the San Felipe side the wind picked up, great for racing. I hope everyone who came had a wonderfull time, even
the racers who didn't finish. I sure did.

Dude - That was one bad-azz race course to do it on a quad!

Thanks guys !
I just got my computer back working. It was an incredible race. I raced from Saldana to Matomi wash. Lots of big whoops, rocks Trophy tucks and cars
coming my way. I had a big oil leak when I got to Borrego but we fixed it with some JB weld after an hour delay. The trucks were very scary. In the
wash to Borrego I was being buzzed by helicopters and then about 6 trucks came through on the gas. I had to go slow off the race course many times to
avoid being on the course at the same time as the big boys. It was one hullva day of racing for us and I'm glad we finished and all are safe. We can't
wait for next year.
A big thanks to TW and his brother for the pit support and prerunning.
Thanks to Lou for the prerunning accomodations and all my race radio services..
