hi new on the board need advice La Bocana it's good for family camping or it's only good for people that like to fish...

places (besides La Bocana)...?

Thanks Jim last year I drove from san diego all the way to Cabo and love it.My favorite places,Bahia concepcion.Bola san ignacio and loreto. I never
beedn in la Bocana..

if you are talking about Baja south of you will enjoy la Bocana.. it has nice camping an really nice people.

Are you refering to La Bocana just north of Santo Tomas? (South of Ensenada)?

There is a La Bocana by where the Brisa Del Mar trailer park is in San Jose, although I doubt that is what he means.

If you mean La Bocana de Santo Tomas (BCN), the answer is both. There is a grassy camping area next to the lagoon at the rivermouth, usually with a
privy set up. It can get crowded on holidays, especially Semana Santa, but is fine on weekends and pretty much deserted on weekdays. Last I heard,
it was five bucks a night per vehicle. There are also cabins for rent up the hill from the lagoon, with hot water, picnic tables, and barbecues. A
few have small kitchens. Camping and cabin info is available from whoever's minding the little store at the lagoon, or if no one's there, at Romulo
Gomez's house up the road another hundred yards or so (look for the sign with a red arrow on it pointing at his house).
Fishing is definitely not the only thing to do out there. Hiking, mountain biking, ATVing, kayaking, diving, and surfing (if you like your water
cold, your wind stiff and your rocks sharp!) are all excellent. The beach and the tidepools are big fun for kids.
If you like to fish, shore fishing is doable on the beach or from the rocks north or south of the rivermouth. Pangas are available at Puerto Santo
Tomas, about three miles north of La Bocana. Check with the fishing co-op guys in the cantina building at the end of the road, or any of the
fishermen.

BajaCat posted the same question on two seperate boards here... On the other one, I addressed the other La Bocanas... One of them in Baja Sur is
between Punta Abreojos and Bahia Asuncion...
La Bocana is the common name for the mouth of a river or lagoon... and there are lots of those in Baja... Kind of like almost every freaking hot
spring in Baja is called AGUA CALIENTE! I mean, how about some poetic justice here and call a hot spring something besides 'Hot Water'!??

'Boca' is mouth, and mouth of a river, lagoon entrance, etc.... I would hazard to guess 'la bocana' is 'the place with the mouth'... ?
Boca Raton (mouse mouth), comes to mind
