"Baja's Ocean Oasis"
The information below is from the Cincinnati Museum. I hope it is coming soon to a theatre near me! Has anyone seen it?

Baja?s Ocean Oasis
November 12, 2005 through March 3, 2006
Baja?s Ocean Oasis, the OMNIMAX film, is a fascinating journey into the bountiful seas and pristine deserts of two remarkably different, but
inextricably linked worlds?Mexico's Sea of Cort?s and the Baja California desert. What powerful geologic forces collided to carve out this unique
region? What drives the strong currents that make this ocean so unusually rich with life? How does life thrive in a seemingly barren landscape? Baja?s
Ocean Oasis mesmerizes us with visually stunning and memorable scenes that explore these mysteries, compelling in its message that this little-known
region is a treasure worth preserving.
Glide side-by-side with a graceful giant manta ray as it arches and swoops through water sparkling under the hot Baja California sun. Witness the
pageant of migrating whales, the elaborate tango of courting terns, the battles of lumbering elephant seals. Fly over sweeping vistas of snow-capped
mountains, vast deserts, palm oases, and mangrove swamps ? then plunge into astonishing underwater sequences of rarely seen marine life.
The Spanish version of Baja?s Ocean Oasis shows at 1 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. It is also available to groups who book in advance.
Produced by the San Diego Natural History Museum, Summerhays Films, and PRONATURA A.C., with sponsorship from Sempra Energy.

Ocean Oasis was released in September of 2000.
I've seen it in both San Diego and Tijuana - and found it to be quite enjoyable.

elgato es correcto- the ocean oasis website is one of my favorite Baja natural history sites because of the photos , graphics, and educational focus.
The site covers topics like simpified plate tectonics and chronology of the peninsula, differences between the types of mangrove plants, bird photos,
etc and the info is very Baja-specific and is not written for the techo-scientific crowd so it's enjoyable to read.
Bought the dvd a couple of years ago, and it's "ok" on a regular tv but probably more impressive on a big screen. Too bad the movie isn't a little
longer.
I was more impressed with the ocean oasis website actually. The movie was raved about when it first came out and I think I expected more out of the
dvd than I was able to get out of a home tv viewing.

Pretty sure
I have seen this film regularly on the INHD-1 or INHD-2 channels that come with the high definition package available from many cable companies. I
still regard it as one of the best examples of the differences between ATSC (HDTV) and NTSC TV. Omnimax film transferred directly to a digital video
format.....YEAH!

Just a note - the original is not the same as the video - although some shots are the same, much of the dvd-video seems to be made from left over
footage - I contacted the Museum of Natural History in San Diego a couple of times but got no reply. Anyone have any ideas?
