Tecate to Guadalupe Cyn

Going next week. Not having entered Baja at Tecate before, I "google earthed" the town. From what it looks like, I'd continue straight across the border and in four blocks there would be a block-size park or plaza on the southeast corner. Turn left (east) and that appears to lead directly to the toll road heading east. Is that too simple? Sure looks straightforward. Also, one of the folks going needs to get auto insurance, any ideas in Tecate?

Lastly, is there any reason to think the route down the Salada wouldn't be dry?

The Lagoona Salada is perfect right now. Or it was last week. Turn at the Pavarate sign. If you do not have reservations get there early. Could be very busy.

John, you did good... You enter Mexico and continue down hill to the main east-west blvd. in front of the big park. You will turn left (east) and not turn again until you bump into the toll hwy. in several miles (past the industrial park. IF you need gas, then turn RIGHT and the Pemex is a short distance west of the park, on the left. The next easy Pemex is in La Rumorosa, exit the Vallecitos ramp, turn right go to the free road, turn left... gas on left... continue on free road through town to go to Laguna Salada...
The dry lake route is 2.6 miles east of the sighned Guadalupe Canyon exit... it is signed Laguna Salada... Have fun!

You can get insurance before you cross at the little mall on the left just this side of the border. The little convenience store sells gas if you want to top it off and also insurance.
