Well, we have 20+ foot tide changes, but they are pretty slow. Have to wait for a hurricane to surf.

The upper Gulf of California (Sea of Cortes) is protected from ocean born swells that create surfing waves.

The only waves are wind born, happen at high tide and are very short due to steep beaches.

Here is a normal windless day near San Felipe... See the waves? NOT!
