Boat Trailer Plates

In Utah, we are not required to register a lightweight single axle boat trailer. I have previously tagged mine just for the purpose of driving in Baja without hassle, but I lost it on the last trip and am debating whether to register it again or just go without. To take it down next year I would not only have to pay for a new plate, but I would have to pay 2 years taxes on it as I didn't make the trip this winter and didn't register it. The only reason for registering it would be the trip to Baja. I have the boat registered as required.

Has anyone had any problems hauling a a boat or utility trailer into Baja without license plates?

The most trouble might be between Utan and Baja

Got plates on my boat trailer. You'd laugh, it's a car top boat, but easier to handle with a trailer. Haven't figured-out why, just obeying the law. Got to keep tabs on those boat trailers I guess.

my last trip south from the border I was stoped by a federal policeman for not having a plate on my trailer. if I had not had a spacial permission from the police here in Mulege I would have lost my trailer and probably most of the continence. I own 2 trailers here in Baja sur and I keep both registered.
