tri-d or 3d panel question

hola, im new here . im planning a project in the todos santos area, and im sure this forum will be a huge help. my question is this: in the 3d or tri-d foam panel process, is the concrete "sprayed" on over the foam? of is it cast with the use of forms? is the steel placed on the surface of the foam or does it go through the foam panel? id love to see some photos of the process if any of you have a source of photos to view. thanks for the help , bob

Welcome to the board Bob

I've done a little checking into the Tri-d panels myself and an pretty sure they shotcrete it up in the states . Seems you could brown ,scratch and stucco coat it also but shooting it would probably be the sturdiest result.

Just my feel for it

They use them in San Felipe

This is a construction co and gives comparison for several types of material

thanks for the info, and the welcome.what sort of tool is used to shoot the concrete? something like what is used for pools? ill bet it takes a beefy compressor to keep up. i wonder what sort of concrete mix is used...rather thin mud would be needed to go through a gun id guess i hope to hear more about this and the equip required. thanks

Our house is built from tri-d panel. Great stuff. The concrete is sparyed or trowled over the panel on the inside and outside. Panel is used for roof too. A heavy wire grid is on either side of the panel about one inch away from the panel with spokes that go through the panel to the grid on the other side. The grid gives it strength and a place for the concrete to stick. That is also where conduit and pipes are run.
It is really cool to walk through your house when it is just panels to get a look at the layout. If you want that window bigger, just cut a bigger hole!
We are very happy with the product. They are building a lot of them out here on the southeast cape. I'll see what I can do about photos.

The website Denver posted says it all. Here is a recent photo of our place. We used a contractor based in Zacatitos and were very pleased with his work. We love our new home.

Jefe,

Nice spread! I like the blue tower a lot. Do you know a guy from CO named Josh Child? He spends his winters at his house in Zacatitos.

I don't know Josh. Our place is about four miles past Zacatitos. The blue tower has a half bath designed to folks won't pee off the roof while enjoying the stars.

Contractor

El Jefe

Your house is beautiful. I have a lot in Zacatitos and may build on it soon. Do you have your contractor's info in case I decide to pull the trigger shortly?
