I'll say. A $130 discount from $169? And they spent a whopping $246,000 in software development over three years? Hmmmm . . .

Internet TV

There is quite a bit of Video TV streaming from all over the world, but it's mostly an esoteric bunch of "Public Interest" garbage. No network or subscription feeds.

Here is a site offering a FREE download (Beta Version) of software to download Internet TV offerings to your PC.

http://www.getdemocracy.com/

Here is the best resource I've seen. A guide to what's available via Internet TV (a lot of BBC from the UK) and you can simply click on it to view with Real Player or the like:

http://tv4all.com/portal.htm

I have a feeling anyone spending $39.95 for the software will likely be disappointed.

beeline tv and webranger are two host sites for "free internet tv" as well as tv4all. for entertainment it's hard to beat ifilm at www.ifilm.com and a cool podcast is www.planettvshow.com. Some guy named Lucas or Lucias hosts a 20-25 minute show. He spends most of his time scouring the web for odd or interesting news and presents bits of it, as well as links to the sites he quotes.

Guys.............

I'm looking for someplace to watch US TV on line. The website I posted claims too but they want the money up front.

Does anyone know if this is possible or am I just dreaming.

the answer lies in your avatar.

what is the incentive for the broadcasters to broadcast over the net? nothing worth the cost as i can see it.

I think the closest thing around so far to "quality" new tv on the internet is the option to download various television shows. I think Disney/ABC is one of the first, and they were offering downloadable shows on Apple's iTunes Store. This was big news in computer tech circles; anything like what you seem to be looking for doesn't exist yet and when it does it will make headlines.

The major studio/network content providers are determined not to let their product get away from them without getting paid.

But if it's the latest "Desperate Housewives" episode you want, you can download it for a little over a buck. Mac or PC.

wow....I just checked....I can download South Park!

rpleger,

Don't waste your money. I've seen these sites before. They offer nothing current; only a big page of links to a lot of old video clips.

This is a scam.

If you look around, you'll see this same product heavily promoted by a lot of "affiliate" sites. They get a generous cut of the action. That's why this "product" is also heavily promoted by spam mail, which is likely where you heard about it.

Satellite TV for PC

"$246,000 in software development over three years?" C'mon... That's just some dork sitting at his computer in his underwear for three years trying to figure out how to bilk people out of their money.

I tried to watch some of the free network shows recently touted by I think it was ABC but when I got there, all I got was a screen saying that content was only available in the US.
