El Arco to San Ignacio, new route
Anyone aware of this route. This is from a friend.
There is a new route now from El Arco back SE to the Sea of Cortez then back SW to Sn Ignacio enabling a run to Sn Ig w/o pavement. chit of the deal
is that this road
runs though the biosphere circa 3-virgins (sacred because of the hunting fees they collect for the big horn sheep heard thinning...) but anyway a race
through there might never happen.
But cool exploration for LcM adventure types seeking new beach destinations. Details can be had from Ricardo at Rice n Beans Sn Iggy.

Although rumors have been around for a long time, from what I've heard George is right, there is no other thru route . Unless???

I emailed him and here is what Chris had to say.
Did not drive it. Info was told to me by owner (Ricardo) of Rice And Beans in San Ignacio. Told me he had a crew there "right now" (in May) working
to open the m/c trail wide enough for a class 1 car. He bought 1000 hectares (I think that's 1000 sq kilometers) of coastline backing up to the Baja
Sur border in Baja Sur. He said there is an existing decent road into the parcel now from San Ignacio and that he is building a resort (think Mike
Sky Ranch type of affair) with fuel, showers, beds, food, targeting tour stop/overs. He said he will have gas and specifically wants m/c tours and
wide open baja types of business and that's why he is widening the trail to get cars in from the north. Ricardo said to keep an eye on his website
for updates but I have not found his website.

And there appears to be a riceandbeansoasis domain name registered but nothing else.
Like any project in Mexico it could take years or never be competed but he sounded serious and I believed that he IS working on it. I intend to go
down to San Ignacio and talk to him again and drive up to see the site. He said the resort site is a beachfront arroyo with palm trees and fresh
water on the sea of cortez - sounds like it's worth a camping trip to investigate.
I also asked Oscar at SCORE about this and he said Ricardo's road in from San Ignacio runs through the Tres Virgines biosphere and that they would be
unlikely to ever be granted permission to race through there. But that does not stop the tour groups nor adventurers.

Ricardo is standing right behind me as I type this. He's here in San Felipe this weekend.
He says that hopefully it will be open for the Baja mil. He has had to get special permits to widen the track and is still awaiting the permits to be
able to use heavy equipment on the road. Right now the trip from San Ignacio to the Oasis site is about a 5 hour drive.
He will be building cabanas and will also offer sportfishing trips from this location.
He is looking forward to welcoming all adventurers in the near future.

him again.

The less hwy to run the better in any off road race. On the run to La Paz the section into San Ignacio was about 30 miles of hwy.
