Tourist pass ...how long can you get?
As I never get these things ....I was wondering what is the max length you can get? Is there any problem getting the longest stay possible ?( Looks
like I will go to CABO in November for BAJA 1000 )

Jim,
The maximum length for an FMT is 180 days. How have you managed to travel without one? Enjoy the BAJA 1000!

Nobody ever checks for them while driving in BCN. But, unless you happen to travel thru the GN checkpoint at times when they are closed, they ask for
it about 90% of the time there.

Paying the extra $20 is worth it, especially if you are going that far south. It is a really easy step to take to ensure a hassle-free trip.

And if you don't have it, it could be a cluster flock, and make your day (week) a very bad one. But if you want to gamble to save $20 have at it.
Doesn't seem like a wise move to me though.

Not sure where surfer jim got his info about the Baja 1000 running to Cabo, but the SCORE web site says it runs from Ensenada to La Paz. The 1000
only runs the full length of Baja every other year, with a 1000 mile loop starting and ending in Ensenada the other opposite year. Check the SCORE
International website for information, maps, and dates:
http://www.score-international.com/baja1000/index.ihtml
We've been in La Paz for the past two races (will be for this one too) and its a fun time and party that lasts for 3 days. Americans only think they
know how to party, the Mexican parties are off the scale for days...it's a guaranteed great time.

The ONLY time it went all the way to Cabo San Lucas was for the special BAJA 2000 in November, 2000.
Anybody know if that 'Cabo 500' off race that Mr. Overcast (of baja ******) promoted (or wanted to) ever went off or was successful?

The one time I was asked for my tourist card in GN I couldn't locate it and they waved me through anyway. I found it later but it does seem as though
you could get by without it, if you were sly

The Cabo 500 was a very successful event.
