Grito
¡VIVA MEXICO, HIJOS...!
Felicidades a todos amigos mexicanos en este aniversario de independencia!
Just watched Fox give the grito from Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato. Usually given from the balcony of the presidencia nacional at the D.F. Zocalo,
this year it was decided to move it to the historical site of the very first grito given by Padre Hidalgo. The historical signifigance made a nice
explanation for the change in locale, which of course had nothing to do with AMLO's plan to flood the Zocalo with PRD protestors. TV coverage then
showed celebrations in TJ, Vera Cruz, Guadalajara... everywhere BUT Mexico City...
All my childhood I wanted to be older. Now I\'m older and this chitn sucks.

I saw that too. Have you heard of any problems in DF?
From El Universal:
In a speech Friday, López Obrador did not refer directly to Aguilar´s accusation, but congratulated his supporters on their non-violent behavior
throughout the campaign and its aftermath.
"Not a single piece of glass was broken," he said. "We never succumbed to any provocation. Everything went peacefully, just as we decided it would at
the beginning."
Like an emotional farewell at the end of summer camp, López Obrador used his Friday speech to bring to a close his movement´s occupation of the
capital´s central plaza Friday after four dozen days of tent-living, political rallies, informational seminars, traffic detours, marathon chess
sessions and daily controversy.
"I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart," the former Mexico City mayor and Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) presidential candidate told his
supporters in the Zócalo, cleared of the makeshift tents in anticipation of Friday night´s Independence Eve celebrations. "Even when one is strong and
ready to confront adversity for his ideals and convictions, there are difficult moments, and some sadness. Being with all of you is a renovation of
hope, and of joy."
López Obrador will be on the same Zócalo stage Saturday evening, closing the afternoon´s grassroots National Democratic Convention, which will kick
off a permanent civil resistance organization and/or shadow government comprised of López Obrador supporters and others opposed to Felipe Calderón.
Encinas is also scheduled to deliver the annual "state of the Federal District" address to the capital´s legislative assembly (ALDF) Sunday.
Afterwards, Encinas said, he will give an informal address to a crowd that is expected to gather outside the assembly chambers at the corner of
Donceles and Bolívar.

Just an aside----
Dick Harrison, when he was alive, had a Hummer painted red, white and green. It had the Mexican Eagle and snake painted on both doors. The
California plates read EL GRITO---He could smuggle anything into Baja.
They even saluted him as he passed customs.

Mexican Independence Day Joke
It was just announced on the news wires that AMLO has been declared the legitimate president by his supporters and will run a parallel government, to
be funded by volunary donations.
The Reuters article concluded that this was the lesser of two options, as AMLO seeks to merely harass Calderon instead of continuing to lead blockades
and other acts of civil disobedience. Hmm

Yo Bernie--the Mexican flag isn't red, white and green. It's green, white and red.
