GREAT TACOS ON YOUR WAY TO BAJA

GREAT 'AL PASTOR' TACOS IN OCEANSIDE...

While out running some errands today, I saw a sign spinner advertising AL PASTOR TACOS for $1.00. Well...AL PASTOR is my favorite Taco and Burrito filling, so I had to give it a try.

LOS TACOS serves AL PASTOR the authentic way it's served in Mexico City. When you order, the meat is sliced fresh off a huge roasted chunk of Al Pastor right onto your tortillas. The AL PASTOR (thin sliced marinated Pork) is stacked on a spit and cooked on a VERTICAL ROASTER like Greek Gyro Sandwich meat is. Usually, when I order Al Pastor in a Taqueria, it's pulled out of a refrigerator and reheated on the grill. And I'm pretty sure that it probably was not cooked the authentic way.

My tacos were the small street style versions served on doubled corn tortillas. The AL PASTOR was tender and very TASTEY! They came topped with a generous amount of delicious Guacamole, Cilantro and chopped Onions. They also had a nice little Sala Bar with a good assortment of different Salsas from which to select, some of which I've never seen on a Taqueria Salsa bar.

In addition to Al Pastor, they had the usaul choice of meats available in Tacos and Burritos, etc, and some delicious looking chicken which was grilling whole over an indoor BBQ type grill.

LOS TACOS is located in Oceanside, just off the 78 and only about one mile EAST of the Interstate 5. It's located on the NORTH side of the 78 in the Wal-mart/Best Buy/Staples shopping center. To get there, you exit at Jefferson and go north to VISTA WAY, which parallels the 78 on the North side. LOS TACOS faces Jefferson and is across the parking lot from a McDonald's and Chevron Station.

For those of you who may need fixes of another sort, there's also a Starbuck's located a few doors down, as well as a Smoothie shop and an Einstein's Bagels. And, if you need some groceries, there's a Stater's Bros. Supermarket.

Writing this has made me hungry for them again!!! LOL :P

That's not an easy exit. GRIDLOCK at it's best. I'll check them out next time I can tolerate the bottleneck.

I have other suggestions for southbound Nomads-
Encinitas Blvd. exit go west then south to the top if the hill
Filibertos - chicken and cheese burrito is unbelievably fulfilling
The breakfast burritos are legendary .

next:
The best taco shop in the world is El Zerape in San Diego. (opinion)
Park Blvd. San Diego CA
close to the zoo and balboa park
it's the best.
