Fried Chicken in La Paz
Hello,
Any place to get a bucket-o-fried chicken in La Paz?
I live in small-town BCS and I have been to many good restaurants in La Paz, so please don't think I am missing out on local cuisine. But this trip
I'll be in hotel room reading, watching TV and nursing doggie after her surgery. A bucket of cluck and a sixpack sounds like a nice way to round out
the lazy afternoon.
Thanks!

My favorite fried chicken in all of Baja is at Ley's. Do not get the mashed potatoes(they make them with powered potatoes and chicken broth...barf),
tell them that you want dos ensaladas en lugar de papas pures. BUT the chicken is great, not greasy and they dont put a lot of spices on it. As a
matter of fact, be sure to get some salt packets.
AND you can buy your six pack there too.
Right now here in San Jose, they have a special of 8 pieces for 43pesos....how can you beat that.
Hope that the doggy will be OK. Mine love the tips of the wings. I dont give them chicken bones otherwise.

Going there? I too live on chicken, turkey, fish, pork. but I eat low fat, and those delicious rotisseried chicken from Ley's, Sorianas are full of fat
that's why they taste so good, the only ones for me are the ones BQ'ed on the street corner or Super Pollo.

Thank you for that nice story, Hose A.
And CP - I apologize for participating in highjacking your thread.
To try to get it back on target... I'm with Comitan, another vote for the Super Pollo in La Paz.

I think CP is talking about KFC style chicken, not the regular charbroiled chicken we have here.
I have a great KFC style recipie from Emeril lagazze, send me a PM and i will make some for you.

Larry - Thanks for the suggestion. I'll be checkin' it out this autumn (knock wood).
CP - From what I've heard about Jesse's culinary skills - you're blessed! Do take him up on this offer.

Wow - you people are always such a great help. Thank you for the suggestions!
Upon sudden onset of health considerations (guilt) and the strong recommendations, I will probably go with Pollos Azteca or similar. Unless I get
over myself by the time I am there - then its Super Ley!!
And a great big hug to Jesse for the kind offer! I am most appreciative but must regretfully decline.

Ah ha "CP" !
No wonder you're hiding behind initials here on nomad while you inquire about fried chicken. You, who taught cuisine and the culinary arts. Who grows
her own herbs and bakes her own bread, and can make plain ol' food look and smell like works of art!
It's about time you had somebody else do the cooking for you, so go and enjoy!
And muchas gracias for the best dang rye bread we've ever had.

LOVE That KFC
Everytime we head North to our Casa in the U.S., our last stop is at KFC for a bucket of Chicken. Sometimes, when we're down in Baja
for a number of weeks, we start to dream about it.
To Heck with all of the Healthier Alternatives.
Back when I was a youngster in South Los Angeles (Watts area), before heading to the Drive-in theater ($1.00 per car), we would stop at a place called
the "Irish Shanty" on Florence Avenue where my father was taken when he was a little kid by his Irish Mother. They made the Greatest
deep-fryed, heavily battered chicken I've ever tasted in my life. They'd wrap the Chicken and Greasy French Fries up in newspaper along with some
cups of coleslaw and we'd head off to the movies. Unfortunately, they closed down for good a couple of years after the 1965 Watts Riots. Bad
neighborhood to be white. I've never since found Anywhere that had anything like that chicken.

If you want the roasted kind, stop off at Costco on your way south.
Just remember to chill it.
Have a Baja Day
