Trailer Trash Welcome in Asuncion-trip report

Boy are we happy about the new trailer trash in town...some old pals of ours showed up...we first met when they came in and anchored in the harbour aboard their fabulous yacht "Patience" and had us over for dinner, c-cktails and live music. They promised to come back soon via land and I was so happy to see them pull in in a classic 1972 Winnebago, complete with great plants...and their pet...the flycatcher plant and a great DVD library and succulent brownies. They made the nasty road bit (30 km) in 2 hours...record crawl time. But they are glad they're here and don't have to worry about dragging anchor. So we've been sucking back pithaya margaritas and eating snail burgers and lobster burritos...ho...hum...so my pal says she wouldn't have taken the road if she didn't know we were at the end of the rainbow...so trailers beware...it's do-able but not recommended...unless you have LOTS of cold beer and patience and visit us when you get here....gotta love that trailer trash....:bounce:

Well as long as you are at the in of the rainbow my classic 88 winnebago will be your next trailer trash.

Not to let the Winnies get all the "glory". Add my l977 GMC Royale Toronado front wheel drive motorhome to "what do you drive in vintage motorhomes? It's seen lots of Baja Miles by it's prior owner.

Shari~

Watch out for those two. Ronnie & Renee are PROFESSIONALS when it comes to partying...they are FAR from lightweights (I know that's not what you were referring to). It was great to talk to you on the radio this morning. It was as if you guys were sittin' right here w/ me conditions were so good. Only bad part is that I was on coffee and I just KNOW you guys were on Bloody Mary's.

Wow Ellen, you must be psychic! I must admit, bloody mary breakfast was unique and certainly made for a long fun day. If you are gonna do something you should always do it well and those two do what they do real well.

That sure is a classy looking Winne.

Speaking of Sailboats:

If I were to cruise on down, is there a protected anchorage? Doesn't look like it from the pics.

Whatever turns your crank Jorgie...bring it on is what I say!

So Dave, the anchorage is awesome here, very protective except from the south hurricaine swell in the summer. We get lots of cruisers in here and we operate the BAYC...no you pesrverts, it isn't the bare arse yacht club....it's the Bahia Asuncion Yacht club...although our burgee does have a bare butt lobster on it! It a fun place to anchor and we can come out and get you or bring your dinghy ashore, call us on the VHF Channel 16 "Sirena" and I'll give you the anchoring coordinates for the best spot. Look forward to spoiling you too....

Nice RV Shari, I had an oldie and miss it alot, but the lack of fuel economy killed us, I would sure like to get out your way soon, I went through there in the late 80's on foot all the way out to BT to meet a yachtie, We have an old friend who lived near Vizcaino at the old Mex Med clinic, and through her we met a local Pastor who traveled the fish camps, we ended up giving him our combi camper for his travels, it was a tan 72', it's probably a chicken coop by now?
Hope to meet you folks soon, take care, chino

I met those kids and their parents. Great people for sure. They showed me the secret surf spots in the area. I vowed that I would not divulge same for any price.

Thanks again Shari & Juan for the hospitality and hooking us up with the familia!

Con mucho gusto gato...it is a great pleasure to supply you all with unsolicited advice knowing that both you and your hosts will enjoy all you and they have to offer. I truly enjoy bringing the cultures together in a rural way and helping each understand the other. Does that make any sense to you?? Tita, Bimbo and family love it when we send good folks there way and those that venture out there have a truly wonderful 'Baja Experience'.
