Agua Verde

The Agua Verde road is open but in bad shape due to the hurricane, according to a phone report I got this week from friends who are there. There's a very small store in Agua Verde for limited items. At the bottom of the grade you can
get a meal or find out about camping at Rancho San Cosme.
Bring lots of drinking water.

Went there in Nov. '04 Great camping, lovely little bay, "interesting" drive in and out. I would imagine that the hurricane has made it a little more "interesting"!

I drove in there in March after hurricane Marte and the road was extremely rough. All of the concrete vados were washed out which require negociating the washes in 4wd.

My In-laws were there 4 weeks ago. Same info on the road as above. Have good ground clearance and hope to not meet oncomming traffic in a few spots. Be ready for wind if you're putting a boat in the water. They almost had 2 swamped when it went from calm to 3-4 ft wind swell in an hour.

The beaches from San Cosme to Agua Verde all face directly into the north winds that sweep down the Sea of Cortez in the winter. The tienda at Agua Verde is very small, in someone's house. We stopped in there once and asked for a Coke. The brought us one out of the chest style refridgerator, but it was all covered with blood from the meat they had in there. So was everything else in the refridgerator. If the road is bad, don't count on them having much as they have to drive into town (Constition or Loreto) to get it. Agua Verde has a beautiful little harbor and a nice beach.

Agua Verde is where we go on holidays...awesome...great little oysters on the rocks, nice folks...excellent beaches with no manta rays, lots of camping beaches to choose from so investigate lots to choose your favorite...hint...the further you go out the better. Make sure you have lots of gas...water they have at the village. enjoy

Our church group folks out of Mulege make a "care package" trip to Agua Verde each year. Enjoy the trip and take and leave goods for the folks and kids there:saint:

I don't know about manta rays on the beaches, but we had a lady in our party stung badly by a sting ray while wading in shallow water a few years back...please, do your shuffle...

There are definitely sting rays in the waters of Agua Verde.
