Mission San Borja
Here are a couple of pictures of San Borja from our trip in March.
Such a special place. A must trip for all.

Do you have more? Please share them...
San Francisco de Borja was founded in 1762 by the Jesuits (who were expelled 6 years later). The Franciscans are credited for building the adobe ruins
(now partially protected by an awning). The Dominicans built the stone church and finished it (except for the bell tower) in 1801.
The mission was abandoned in 1818... too few natives left to keep it operating.
Here are the adobe ruins built around 1770... photo taken from roof of stone church (note shadow)

You're scaring me Cat! The road I drove 3 years ago was a wide, fast, graded road between Rosarito and San Borja...?

It is neat seeing palm groves in the middle of the desert, for sure! Where you see date palms, then know the padres were there!
