Quickest way through Ensenada???
I would love to hear how everyone else makes it through Ensenada.... (last year Bob & Susan posted great directions, unforutnatly I didnt keep
them & my memory isnt so great, hope they might reply again) Also if there is any construction or anything??? about 5-7 years ago there was major
construction and I can even remember one of our trips we ended up on a dirt road... another trip during construction we ended up going the wrong way
& turned around going over a ditch that had re-bar sticking up...lucky us somehow we made it through ok.

Just follow the main road all the way down. No major construction now and the road is well done.

Yes, it is well signed for San Quintin and Zona Turistica at the fork just before entering downtown where the two blue lines split... and again where
the sharp left turn is, you will see a sign for San Quintin ( a Pemex station is on the left corner )... You will pass a hospital and make a right
turn next to the big Gigante market parking lot ( a Pemex station is on the left side, across the street )... Then straight south!

nice map hose a.
i took the truck route south bound the other day (the top line on the map). once we were on mexico 1 where the tourist route meets up we saw a truck
that we had seen just before the split, he took the tourist route. so on that day the travel time was the same. sometimes there is alot of tourist
traffic along the waterfront so the truck route could be faster.
we hit the border northbound today at about 2pm. the ramp was closed so we went up a couple of streets and managed to get in line just before they
closed that road also. we were FAR away from the border. total time in line, 44 minutes. amazing. a fantastic trip. best christmas in...........ever.

Just watch for all the "hidden" stop signs as you drive along the tourist zone. We've been bypassing that turn that goes by the Gigante by continuing
to go straight where you would turn left at the Pemex. Go straight until you are forced via detour to turn left, then take a right at the next light.
That street is Dr Pedro Loyola. There is a stop sign a nearly every block but very little traffic. Go as far as you can until you are again forced
to turn left. You'll come out by the Home Depot/Walmart shopping center.

This will be trip number 7 but diffently the biggest we have been cabover camper on our Dodge 4x4 with boat in tow....so guiding my husband through
Ensenada as stress free as possible is important. We hope to hit the road no later than the 1st...(I really wanted to be on the beach for new years
but it just hasnt worked out this year... we had to find new house sitters) Did our final shop today, now we have to pack our new to us Cabover
camper, getting the boat ready and there is still so much to do! The weather is cold here lots of rain, snow & some 20' temps... Cant wait for
Baja!
Roundtuit, thanks ... we probably wont make the beach until the 4th. We will be down for a month... (once we get there!) Did Don & Marje make it
down this year?

Si, we have dodged potholes in Ensenada that could swallow a Winnebago.
Going through Ensenada we always take the malecon.....the most scenic and the air is always 'fresher' ...at least until you hit that certain area going south from the Gigante store....
Summanus....ancient Roman Nightly Thunder God. He liked refrieds too.

Yesterday at noon there was no sign of a pothole,
we doglegged thru the Gigante parking lot for shopping, but there was no particular backup in any direction.
And yes, the Malecon route is the quickest,
couple years ago our group was headed north and we all left Gigante at the same time.
I went through the 'downtown' route and they went 'turistico'
When we arrived at the Tecate turnoff they were all on the second cerveza, waiting out arrival.

oh, Dennis, don't be such a spoil sport! Everyone has to put in their 2 cents. My is, Yes, take the Malecon but don't make that left to go to the
Gigante. Keep going straight and then refer to my earlier post on this same thread! Just did it today. Would swear it takes a good 5 to 10 minutes
off the trip to get through.
