Baja 1000 Class 7, 7S,7SX rules, does anyone have them?


does any have these rules for the classes? and am I missing a class in this area (7, and the unlimited version of this class?)

Rules are complicated for those classes, you need to order a rule book from score. The form is on there website or you could buy one at Laughlin if you are going. The only other class for downsized trucks would be stock mini. 7 is the open class, 7s and 7sx are the same with engine size restrictions. I think that 7s is 3.0liters and 7sx is 4.0liters, but I might have that backwards.

Whistler... if you compare how many Baja Nomads have Tacomas vs. how many have Frontiers you will be awe struck, me thinks!

You probably would never see the extra 30 hp as it is at the top of redline (PLUS the power to weight ratio on the Tacoma and Frontier are essentially the same since the Nissan weighs more*)

Yes, discs in the rear are nice, but the Taco drums still stop my Taco just fine.

The D-44 axle is over rated.....the Tacoma axle is great, with many gear ratios available (at least for the 1996-2005 years)

Other things to consider:
Tacos also have coilovers in the front.
Tacos have locking rear differentials.
New Tacos have a 6-speed manual transmission.

Lots more aftermarket parts for the Taco

Tacos are simply better trucks :D

Curb weight of the Taco=3,965,
curb weight of the Nissan=4,419.

230/3965=0.58
261/4419= 0.59

If it is for racing, then you need to see who PAYS better. Nissan is heavy into off road racing (short course stuff mostly)... I see Tacomas in the desert races however.

For truck prep before (and after) each race: Stewart's RaceWorks in Santee (Ivan's son, Craig)...

I had no idea you liked off road racing Glen!?

Wah? Pro Trucks are spec trucks, different makes of motors, but all the same otherwise. How do you compare to the 3 7 classes?

7s and 7sx (any make of mini/mid size truck). The 7s and 7sx classes came about because of engine size (it made the s-10 4.3 obsolete) ,the 4 banger Toyota and Ranger guys getting spanked by the 4.0 liter rangers. They use a lot of beefed stock suspension parts, fairly expensive to prep. One or the other was supposed to go away but they haven't. 7 open is a downsized version of class 8. unlimited suspension as long as it fits with stock frame. Engine must be based off what was available in the truck.

As for Manufacture money that David is talking about, BITD is the only option, and Ford is the only brand.
